SOURCE: is denon 1356 with active bass

A passive bass is a box with a sub-woofer in it.
An active bass is a box like that with an amplifier built in.

Hope that helps.

Check the Denon site too

SOURCE: Foam air filter needs replacing. It

I'm not sure what your question is, but you need to replace the air filter and in the future, don't clean the foam filter in gasoline. They will deteriorate with time, but gas will speed up that process. Wash it in dishwashing detergent next time.

SOURCE: what is a suitable gale gold woofer replacement?

Really does not matter the point is you can rebuild the woofer for less then replacing with a new one but to each his own on this. But as long as its the same size anything would do for this monitor speaker.

I do not mean to sound generic but its true a woofer is a woofer it is what it is sure there are brands out there but they all work basically the same.

All your doing is buying the name.

Thanks please do click the thumbs above to give me a postive rating for my efforts today,

What would make a easy home repair fix for the outer foam on a woofer speaker

Repairing a speaker surround is not difficult. There are ebay sellers such as Loonytunes or Orange County Speaker who sell complete kits for maybe $20 or so for a pair of speakers. Get the kind with white glue--it's easier to work with. Be SURE to get the ones for YOUR SPECIFIC SPEAKERS!
Here's a store with lots of kits
This seller does not use shims and new dust caps but has an excellent reputation:
Forums such as AudioKarma are good resources. You can also find Youtube videos that show how to do it. Re-foaming is not hard but there is no "quick fix." You have to completely remove the old foam, clean the mounting surfaces, cut off the dust cap and shim the voice coil, install the new surround then install a new dust cap.
Or send the drivers to Millersound.

Repair of speaker

You can have your cones re-foamed by any speaker repair shop. You can even do it yourself, there are many places that sell kits to do that. It's easy, I've done it myself. Here's a source:

The 6.5 foam ring

This is a very common problem and I don't know why companies still use foam.

The ring is called the "surround" and the problem is known as "surround rot".

There are 3 fixes.

Replace the entire driver. (most expensive)

Recone the driver (tear out the old cone + surround + spider and glue in a new one using the old basket).

Refoam the surround. (replace just the foam surround).

I know of one location in my hometown (Ottawa Ontario, that does re-foaming and people that do this are few and far between).

If you can find someone to refoam it go that route, failing that do a recone. A recone will last just as long as a new driver.

Hope this helps!

Passive radiator speaker wiring

Passive Radiators are not driven by the amp. They have no voice coil and no power goes to them. They are used to enhance the bass or lower frequencies in a speaker system. They work by utilizing the back pressure that a driver (woofer) produces. When a woofer produces sound, it moves forward and backwards inside the speaker cabinet. This backward motion is what drives the passive radiator. So in order for the passive radiator to work, it would have to be placed in speaker cabinet along with a woofer that is hooked up to an audio amp.

The foam around my Regent HT-391 subwoofer speaker is split so that it makes a horrible rumbling sound as opposed to a nice base. I know you can repair paper speakers with clear nail polish, but I'm pretty...

This speaker needs to be re-sorrounded. Look in your area for someone that re-cones speakers. While resurrounding speakers is not rockket science, it does take practice. Figure on $40 or so for resurrounding a 12-15" speaker.

Rattle Problem w/ subwoofer

When you put the new foam, maybe the cone went off center. Get a new kit, and re-do the job with more care. Check to make sure that the spider is okay, and that the speaker coil is not warped or anything like that.

There are speaker companies the professionaly rebuild speakers. They are better equiped and have the jiggs and facilities to properly rebuild the speaker from the coil up.

If you really want your speakers, you should consider giving the complete set out for rebuilding and testing.

Alesis M1 Woofer stopped working

check the condition of the surround(foam or rubber) of the driver, if it is deteriate,or crack, you have the replaced the drivers(woofer cone),I have that happened to my NHTs one time, after I replaced it, it sounded like it was new, depend on the drivers price, it might be better for you to replaced the whole speaker. For me, it was worth it, because the new drivers have rubber surrounds, instead of foam, which will last me a long time.
