Question about Canon PowerShot A620 Digital Camera

Canon digital camera display issue

Hi,
I have canon digital camera A620 7.1 meg. Suddenly, it stopped working and nothing displays on the screen. Also, it is not capturing any pictures and only dark screen gets saved when we take pictures. Any kind of help in this will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sridhar

I have exactly the same problem. It would appear to be the CCD sensor that is faulty but Canon refuse to acknowledge this could be the case. Their UK repair agents want £140 plus taxes plus return postage to fix it - a brand new updated Canon camera costs less than that - so I think Canon have sold us lemons!

Never again will I buy any Canon products and they are off my Christams card list!

have the same issue with an A620, also had an issue with CCD on A70 that was resolved by Canon USA replaced for FREE :), I'm currently trying to get this A620 to get the same treatment in the UK, Canon don't have this issue in their FAQ's and based on other responses on this thread I might have to take another flight to get some service.

I have the exact same problem. At first when I slapped the camera it would bring the picture back and then the subsequent picture could be taken, now nothing happens, and I don't want to beat on the camera. HELP. Is this a lemon?

Same problem here. Started in June and I too could tap on the camera or turn the camera on and off several times until the picture came back. Now nothing helps. I have a steady black screen and black pics/videos. Flash still works.

I have the same problem as those described. In July, the LCD would black out, but when I turned it off and then back on, it would work fine. Now, it is just a black screen. Everything else seems to work (zoom, settings appear on the screen, pics already on card can be viewed). I've only had this camera for a couple of years, and have taken good care of it. Please let me know how to fix this, or how to get a replacement. With so many people having the same problem, this product should be recalled and we should all be reimbursed or given a product that works, especially for the money we shelled out for it. Thanks

I have the same problem with my camera. The display shows black and when you take a picture, the picture is black. However, I can view other pictures already saved in memory.

I have the same problem. My camera was working fine. I went out and took some pictures and when I got back and started to view them there was nothing there but a black screen. The camera is only 2 years old. It, too, was a Canon PowerShot A620. Help

I was also able to turn the camera on and off and get the display back, but now I can only view older photos on the card. The LCD is completely black and if u take a picture it's the same thing. With what I am seeing here this should have been a recall by Canon. I won't spend this kind of money on a canon again.

My Canon PowerShot SD880 IS has a black display screen. I cannot take pics now with the black screen, but the display DOES work for pics taken before the screen went black. Please help!

I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. I found one posting elsewhere that said that this was a "common" problem. That person's camera was under warranty. Mine isn't, but it's less than 2 years old.

Beleive the CCD has stopped responding. A cheap way to verify this is to point an infrared remote towards the lens and press a key. This will usually provoke a response from the camera even if all else fails, barring a bad pickup device...accordianman

Memory card error

Canon will fix this for you for free. It's an inherent fault with the S400. It has a little internal button battery that causes the problem as it gets old and run down. Check this website for more info. Look for the bright/bold yellow post describing how to return to Canon.

Good Luck!

Nothing displays in LCD screen, canon powershot S400 digital ELPH

Sounds like your LCD might have gone bad. The LCD might cost more than the camera costs, but there are a few places on eBay that you can buy a repair and replacement service from for pretty cheap.
