The pictures are coming out with a dark shade on the bottom. when I removed the lens i notice the thing in the middle that looks like a mirror is facing sideways instead of right in the middle face forward.

Were these pictures taken with the camera's flash, with a lens shade on the lens? If so, you might be seeing the shadow of the lens shade.

Picture problems

Two things to look at from rear with back off: one is the inside of the screen and or the large mirror in rear of unit--do not touch mirror.

second is the unit has a small lens (2-3 inches) the points up towards the mirror---dust or such on it will cause this--it can be cleaned with a lens cloth.

If the mirror has this (uncommon) the entire front of set would have to be removed (screen units) and that is not real easy.

If lens and mirror and screen are ok problem is INSIDE the optical unit that the lens is part of---on rare occasions that can be cleaned out with compressed air.

without seeing a photo of what it looks like this is all I can suggest.

Mitsubishi 62525 static on screen more noticeable with dark background cleaned filter and replace lamp

A few of these (not sure if this model) have two mirrors inside--stupid idea and only a few had that--.

If this is the case here--little mirror (I mean LITTLE) is at bottom pointing up from the optical lens--gets dust and such from the fans= picture gets darker to the point where brightness is very diminished.

Mitsubishi can tell you if it has two mirrors (the large one in rear of set must not be touched and never needs cleaning as any finger prints etc will show in the picture.

If two mirrors I can tell you what to do--15 minute two person job.

I have a 50 in RCA older HDTV that is experiencing a darkness in a V pattern starting in the middle of the bottom of the screen. I am told that it is not the bulb but possibly a circuit board? HELP

i have seen a few of these and not seen that cuased by a curcit failure.(OF coarse nobody has seen it all) I would suspect something in the optical path. what i mean by this.... the bulb shines light through a color wheel into the engine then through a lens bouncing off a mirror then on the screen. now is the picture visable through the dark area? their could be something inside. blocking the lens(dirt, bug, fly) or there might be a broke mirror. also the screen could of got wet and damaged.. dont know exactly but these are my best guess without seeing the picture... let me know how it goes

The tv looks too dim. you have to stand right in front of it to see the picture but it still looks dim.

Other than a circuit problem it may be dirt or dust on the lens. The model indicated has 3 picture tubes.

If you unplug set and remove back cover you should be able to see and reach the large black lens dead center and above the circuit boards. If the lens are very dirty the picture will be dark and dull looking.

There is also at inside top back of set a mirror--if it is dusty or has grime on it, same thing--not as easy to get at but with back off you can use a small mirror to examine it.

Clean the lens with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

With back off, 2 minute job and if picture now much brighter, you are in business. Lens, depending on how much dust etc in your area should be cleaned one time a year or more-----do it yourself job and easy.

If this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

The screan is dark on the top and bottom and color is strong

This not the correct Model #, this model is a DLP set and does not have picture tubes and associated lenses. Did you remove the mirror? Does your set have a fold in back? I suspect the back is not fully out in the correct viewing position.

Sony bravia 50 in lcd rear projection tv picture dark most of the time

take out screws ob back side around the edges not bottom. the grill that covers the speakers comes off by taking out screws on back in the middle of round knobs after screw is removed unscrew knob. then remove screws next to speakers then remove front of tv clean mirror in back. if that dosent work replace bulb.

Image is half dark, despite lens changes

Hi there
The blacked out part is the bottom of the photo therefore the obstruction is at the top of the frame on the camera.
Try the camera on the BULB setting without a lens on & look into the throat of the camera. You should see what is not clearing the CCD completely.
It could be the sub-mirror which is a little mirror behind the main one for the AF function or a shutter blade not clearing enough.
I would go for the first one.
It could be because.....
1. the sub-mirror spring coming off or broken
2. the sub-mirror is glided by a post on the side of the mirrorbox & this could of come adrift.

Most repairers can deal with this fault. If the spring has come adrift you should be able to pop it back in place.
All this may not solve your problem but it will at least give you better idea of what you are dealing with.

Dark picture ,cant brighten picure,

i have been fighting a dark screen almos impossible to see dark scenes

this worked for me
the mirror has dust on it easy fix
remove front of screen by removing screws around the top and sides of the back don't forget to pop off the bottom cover in the front it just pulls off
then remove center cover screws
i could not disconnect the front electrical plug but it has enough slack to lift and then tip the front screen down to the floor
it will be obvious on the mirrors there is a big one it wasn't to dirty
lean in and look down there is a small mirror and lens they were filthy
there is a piece of foam trying to keep the dust out it was sucked backed so dust could get in
clean with windex and paper towels cloth didn't work
good luck

Uneven flash

Look carefully at your images taken with flash... on the horizontal image is the lower part of the image slighty darker and have a rounded fall off at the edges? Is the vertical image dark side a straight hard line or is there a rounding to the top and bottom?

What we are looking at is if you have a very wide angle lens with the lens shade attached to the lens, then the built-in flash catches part of the lens shade and make a shadow on your subject... take the lens shade off and try the same shot and see if that makes a difference...

Have a great day...
