The carb is right behind the air cleaner.

you need to remove the air cleaner, the remove the carb and disassemble it to clean it.

If you are not very mechanical, or have no idea where it is, perhaps you are better off taking it to a small engine shop..should be no more than $40 to clean out the carb and get it running for you.

Poulan pro push mower is chugging and shaking. I put in new spark plug, clean filter and cleaned exaust. What else can I do to get it running smooth?

Over 90 percent of the problems are caused by a carburetor that needs a good cleaning. The new ethanol gas cannot sit in the carb or it gets clogged. If you do not know how to do it, then it's better left to a professional, due to the tiny parts when you take it apart. There are many Youtube "how-to" videos if you want to do it yourself. I believe the Poulan's use a standard Briggs and Stratton engine and once you do one carb successfully, you'll soon be a pro, if you're so inclined. I was afraid of them when I started and now I'm paying my bills doing them in my sleep. Best of luck to you. Here's a link to a basic carb rebuild video on an older Briggs engine. They're all a bit different, but the basics are the same: Best of luck to you. James.

Poulan pro w/ 550 series briggs & stratton. Changed gas, oil, plug, and filter, cleaned deck and blade. Will turn over when cord is pulled but dies immediately.

Your carburetor needs a good cleaning or a rebuild kit, depending on its condition once opened up. There are tiny holes (jets) in there that easily get clogged or gummed up with today's crappy gas (ethanol). This is the problem with 90 percent of the machines I work on or fix. If you don't know carbs, then I recommend you take it to a professional and have the carb done (30 to 40 USD, probably), but it should run like new, once this is properly done. If you are a "do it yourselfer". then you can find plenty of videos on youtube to help you get started. Just pay close attention to what goes where when you take the linkage apart. Trust me, do not leave it to memory; take photos. Best of luck to you.

Remove the brass bolt holding the carburetor bowl on at bottom of carburetor. Inspect all holes and clean (at bottom and on smooth part of bolt). Clean out bowl also. Reassemble.

Your carb needs to by cleaned out. Needs to be taken apart and cleaned with carb cleaner. There is also a gasket that needs to be replaced. It collapsed and not letting gas in the carb.

Poulan Pro lawnmower (Briggs and Stratton 128 cc engine) will start when primed but will not stay running. New Lawnmovewr, < 3 months since purchased at Walmart

IF IT IS A BRIGG & STRATTON ENGINE YOU CAN GO ONLINE TO BRIGGS & STRATTON.COM AND ASK THEIR TECH SECTION ABOUT THE PROBLEM. FOR 3 MONTHS OLD SOUNDS LIKE DIRT OR WATER MAY HAVE GOTTEN INTO THE TANK. WHEN YOU PRIME THE MOWER YOU ARE FORCING GAS INTO THE CARB AND ENGINE AFTER THAT THE ENGINE SHOULD PULL THE GAS IN THE ENGINE, I WOULD SAY THE CARB MITE NEED REBUILDING BUT NOT AT 3 MONTHS
