How do I fix the sound on my Skullcandy Hesh?

Is there a crackling sound? If so, it's probably the cable, right by the plug. Soldering a new one on might be a bit tricky if it's a small cable. If it plays partially plugged in, then it's only one channel with a wiring problem, but you'll have to replace the plug, anyway. If you do, make sure you can tell which wire goes where. There should be three connections. One will be ground, which must be in the right place, or you won't get stereo.

My Skullcandy Hesh headphones have messed up sound with my ipod

I would say that if they work fine with other devices then your input jack on your ipod is bad. First I would plug other headphones into your Ipod and see if the problem persists. If not the case then I would plug in your headphones into a known working device and wiggle the wire at the connection point to see if you can duplicate the problem. If this does happen then you need to replace the connector (1/8th inch stereo male plug) on your headphones.

by dangling ipod while connected or pulling out by cord you broke wiring you can look up an electronics place in your area for repair but repair might be more than a replacement

Contact the maker they should be still covered. It sounds like an earth wire has come loose, perhaps at the plug. You can understand it further by seeing my tip on replacing dodgy cables plugs on headphones. Just click my name. Don't repair them yourself if they are covered.

Blown headphones

I'm also a stickler for sound I was devastated when my iPod touch headphone jack broke. I think it's impossible to find a pair of headphones that never blow. I'm using skullcandy lowriders at the minute and they are great except you can hear the sound coming out of the headphones from a mile away. I would reccomend sending your headphones back to Bose or wherever you brought it from. Most stores have a 1 year return guarantee on all products. Hope I was of help, Jess.

Replacing headphone connector

The impedance or resistance of the two different sets of wires might be different. The higher the impedance the less signal. If your cable is long enough you are better off spending the five or so dollars for a new plug. Red is right, green or blue is left and copper is ground.( Usually) Unfortunately not all manufacturers agree. Also what could have happened is a short between the wires that you soldered.Make sure they are physically separated from each other and insulated.
