This is a new one that I have never heard of. As the door is held shut by a magnet and not a latch we can assume something inside the refrigerator door has fell over and is hung in the rack. Try rocking it back and forth with the help of a couple of strong men. You may have to move the unit out away from the wall and with the help of other people, unplug the unit, and lean it back on the rear very, very, slowly. This should cause whatever is holding the door shut to fall to the rear and allow you to open the door. You may have to lay it on it's side if this does not work. Do not plug the unit back in for 8 hours after laying it down.
You can most likely remove the door by removing the hinges on the top and bottom.
Please post the model number of your Whirlpool refrigerator for more specific directions.
I hope that helps.
SOURCE: I have a whirlpool the refrigerator door will not stay close.
It shouldn't be pushing the door itself...you see the magnet that is used in the refrigerators are not repulsive. It doesn't get weaken that easily but what you can do is check if there isn't something bulging out of the fridge and pushing the door...take out all the things from inside and then try closing the door again. If door opens up again then definitely you have to look for a new gasket.

i moved my refrigerator and then the door became jammed and will not open
my whirlpool refrigerator will not open
You were correct. That is exactly what happened. A rack was jamming into the door and prevented it from opening. I removed the door and was able to fix the shelf. Thanks!
