The internal seal is leaking and the unit must be replaced or repaired. Call this number 1-800-558-5700 and have the model # and serial # ready for the call. Explain where the leak is happening and see what they say. They may give you a new unit or repair it at no cost depending on how old it is. Unplug & Stop using the unit until you get it repaired as this is a dangerous situation. If you can get no help from InSinkErator then just buy a new one and toss this one out.

My badger 5xp is leaking drain water from the red reset button?

You have to replace the disposal.
Disposals are sealed units, and cannot be repaired once they rust out.
If water is coming out red reset button, then that is very common point for water to exit the steel canister.
The motor is getting wet.
The electrical wires are getting wet.
This is a shock hazard, and sink and disposal should NOT be touched when switch is ON.

My garbage disposal won't turn on, and i've felt down there and can't feel anything blocking it...what can i do now

Check circuit breaker.
Check red reset button on side of disposal and see if it's popped out. It's under sink, next to wire connection on disposal.
See if electric switch has gone bad. Listen if disposal makes humming sound. Humming means electric power is good.
Use vacuum cleaner hose instead of hand to check for stuff inside disposal
Use wood broomstick and see if cutter disk rotates freely.
If disk is stuck, wedge broomstick against side of sink opening until disk comes free, or use allan wrench on bottom of disposal.
If electric power to unit is good, and reset will not reset or reset is not tripped out, and if cutter disk rotates freely, then disposal has gone bad.
You can continue using sink as long as there is no leak that will damage cabinet underneath.

My badger 5 is leaking from the bottom around what seems to be the electrical cord opening. any suggestions

Your disposal is rusted out and needs replacement.

Garbage disposal mechanism cannot be disassembled for repairs.
Here are basic disposal parts:
1) Sink basket that connects to sink and is held with 3 screws from below.
2) Disposal body which connects to sink basket using metal ring.
3) Rubber washer between disposal and sink basket.
4) Dishwasher connects to upper part of disposal with a hose.
5) Electric wire coming from disposal switch connects to disposal near red reset button.
6) Tubular drain pipe connects to side of disposal

You might be able to buy time filling hole with epoxy or silicone caulk and let dry for 2 days.
10-year old garbage disposal had a good run.
Disposal will need to be replaced at some point.

When I worked apartment maintenance, we replaced disposal with same size and brand disposal.
That way we didn't have to change out sink basket or move pipes around under the sink.
How to: Disconnect 2 nuts on p-trap and trap falls loose.
Using hammer and screwdriver, rotate steel connector disk that holds disposal to sink basket, and disposal comes off.
Before installing new disposal.
Attach electric wire to new disposal, black wire to black and white to white, and push in red reset button.
Attach dishwasher tube to new disposal. Knock out plug inside dishwasher opening.
Lift new disposal up into place, and attach to old sink basket.
There is a rubber washer between disposal and sink basket, Use new washer.
Connector ring catches at three points, all three have to connect.
You can use bottle jack to lift disposal if you have problem.
Re-assemble tubular pipe.

Image shows direction for connecting new disposal.

If this is your home, you want new sink basket that comes with new disposal because it looks shiny and new.
Buy a tub of plumbers putty also.
Remove 3 screws that hold sink basket, remove basket and clean sink opening.
Put finger-size roll of plumbers putty around sink opening, and then push new strainer basket into plumbers putty.
Tighten basket from below, wipe away excess putty around sink opening.
Install new disposal as described above.

Tips for tubular pipes:
When taking apart tubular pipes, start at p-trap and take apart as few pieces as needed to do job.
On image above, loosen both upper and lower nuts, trap falls loose, and then work on disposal.
Any tubular drain pipe that gets moved while working under sink needs to be disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled.
Metal pipes have rubber washer >> always use new rubber washers.
Plastic pipes have plastic washers > plastic washers can be cleaned and re-used.
Plastic washers have flat side that goes toward nut, tapered side away from nut.

When reassembling tubular pipe, we use rectorseal on washers and joints.
Slap a good amount on washer just before pushing washer in place and attaching nut.
Rectorseal will ensure tubular drain pipes won't leak.

I push the reset button on the badger 5 unit nothing happen. The unit doesn,t make a sound when I try to turn it on.

These motors gradually slow up, and the slower speed causes motor to overheat.
Reset is supposed to detect high heat, but in any case, the motors go bad.
Used to be, there was a motor shop in town and they would rewind motors, but today we throw all the copper and metal into landfill unless old disposal is taken to recycle center and shipped to Bangladesh for dis-assembly and salvage.

Check that your wall switch has power, and that switch is good, and there is no loose wire.
Also check for loose wiring at disposal.
If reset is tripped out and won't reset, then disposal is bad.

Making a metal grinding sound when turns on but dont feel any forks or spoons in it

Garbage disposals can get noisy and sound like they're eating spoons instead of banana peel.
You can put vacuum hose in sink opening and see if something is in there.
As long as disposal disk rotates freely, and disposal is not shaking around and causing pipes to leak, then you can use it until it dies.
Otherwise, the bearing is probably rusted, or something is loose. Disposals rust out and eventually freeze, or the motor slows down and overheats, or they rust a hole and water leaks under sink.

I have insink badger 5 and it is leaking from the red reset button. How can I fix?

The reset button is where the water is coming out, but the leak is probably somewhere above that.
The disposal may be rusted out and needs to be replaced.
There are ways to check for source of the leak.

Turn off switch before touching any wet electrical appliance.

Test1) Put stopper in disposal.
Fill sink with water.
If water starts dripping from disposal, then the putty seal at the sink strainer could be leaking.
Use dry tissue up at top of disposal to see if tissue gets wet.
To repair, remove garbage disposal and reset strainer using plumber's putty.

Test2)
Check if water only leaks when dishwasher runs.
Dishwasher drains into garbage disposal.
Use dry tissue around dishwasher connection when you hear dishwasher draining

Test3)
A lot of leaks start at the tailpiece.

This is where the disposal drains into the tubular pipes.
Your disposal may have a manufactured tailpiece that doesn't come off
If tailpiece is removable, then it is connected to disposal with a rubber washer.
When washer gets old, it doesn't seal perfectly.
Remove tailpiece, it usually has 2 hex bolts.

When putting the tailpiece back, you need to seal the rubber washer really well.
I use rectorseal on all tubular pipe joints under the sink.
Works on both plastic and rubber washers.
Brush it all over the washer, use plenty, then reinstall tailpiece.
The rectorseal assures that joint will not leak.

If the above repairs don't work, then the disposal is rusted-out and needs to be replaced.
