You may need to get a new power adapter, Check it with any other 12 volt DC power plug, most often routers and able modems use these as well, but make sure its 12 volts and not above or below. If this does not work you might need to send it in. If you have a computer with a SATA capable motherboard you can connect the drive internally and pull off your information that way.

Either you need to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and software and Check the cable and your usb ports are all working properly or your HD is done.

looks like u primary hard drive is inside the laptop and so should be displayed as c : drive ,

and the reason , the external hard drive is not displayed seperately is csue ., the external HD  may be added as slave to the internal HD .,

can u tell me ,make a right click on c:/ drive and choose properties : and tell the totalsize dispalyed

since your talking about the External drives, a lot of reasons makes this happen. if the resolution above link cant help you, then try this:

Make sure that update the driver of your PC hard drive. Usually, this errors appear if your moving from one hard drive brand to another ex: seagate to samsung etc....

updated hard drive driver resolve this.

Make sure the cables are alright. Or at least have the latest service pack. USB drivers causes issues as well. I updated mine and the problem did not crop up anymore. hope this would help.

Hi,
don't panic your hard drive might still be working . you say it dose not sign showing it's on. please have any cable that connect the hard disk to the computer checked. I think your cables might be bad.

Wd external stopped working

The round lights on the front of the drive are actually power off/on button. Have you tried pressing it? I know it's simple, but you never know. :)
