Quick and dirty answer just install the program under windows 7 should run OK, if it doesn't then run it in winxp compatibility mode and should work from there.

Windows 7 can't access hard drive running Windows XP

The most common reason is that the physical hard drives are not "Pinned" correctly. If you did not move a jumper pin or know what I am talking about, then this probably applies to you. If you would like instuctions let me know!

How to Install Windows 7 from USB Flash Drive

what if you don’t have DVD-ROM and you are running Windows XP, you might have guessed in this case we can’t install windows 7. Since Windows 7 ISO size is around 2.24 GB so its obvious that you will need to burn windows 7 iso on DVD and another issue is you can’t start windows 7 installation by mounting ISO file on windows XP as Windows XP upgrade to windows 7 is not allowed. In such situation installing windows 7 from USB pen drive is feasible solution.
Here is small guide on how to install windows 7 from USB flash drive or USB pen Drive for Windows XP users.
How to Install Windows 7 from USB Flash Drive Requirement:
USB Pen Drive (Min 4 GB)
Windows 7 ISO (32 bit or 64 bit)

MBRwiz Download and Extract it on your hard drive (Diskpart utility for Windows XP doesn’t detect USB drive as Disk hence we need to use this free utility to make bootable USB drive).
1. Connect your USB Flash Drive to your computer Format USB drive
2. To Format USB Flash Drive Go to My Computer -> Right click on USB drive and select Format from context menu.
3. Now go to Start Menu->run->cmd (Open Command Prompt) and Type following command
convert i: /fs:ntfs (Where “I” is your USB drive latter)

4. Mount Windows 7 iso as drive (You can use Freeware MagicDisc download from here).
5. Type Start->run->cmd
Now dir to directory where you have extracted MBRWiz and run following commands

mbrwiz /list (note down disk number of your USB Pen drive)
mbrwiz /disk=X /active=X (X is Disk Number of your USB Drive)
exit
6. Now open another command window and type following command
J: (Drive letter of Windows 7 iso mounted with demon tool)
CD boot
bootsect /nt60 Y: (Y is drive latter of your USB drive )

7. Now copy all files from drive where you have mount Windows 7 iso
8. Now reboot your computer and press F9 to get your BIOS screen and select USB drive as your boot drive.
9. If every thing goes fine, Your Windows 7 Installation should start from your USB drive.

I have ask you already how to install the dual boot os(Windows xp and Windows 7 ), but i don't complete yet .Can you explain to me again step_by_step in great detail ? because when i install windows xp...

Hello, this is how I dual boot my laptop with windows xp and windows 7

1. Backup all you important files, use an external hard-disk if possible
2. Make sure you have two drives or partitions: usually drive C and D
3. Insert your xp cd, do a quick format of drive C and install
4. Boot into windows xp and format format drive D if necessary
5. Insert your windows 7 DVD and follow the prompts. When it asks you to upgrade or new install, choose new installation
6. When you are asked to choose a location choose drive D
7. Complete your windows 7 installation
8. Thats it, you can now install drivers and programs

When installation is complete you will see both os options: windows 7 and previous version of windows (i.e xp)

I have done this numerous times without the need for any other step or software. The only rule is to is to install xp first, then windows 7.

All the best

I have want to setup Windows xp and windows 7 together .Meaning when start up computer have : Windows xp Windows 7 I try to setup two windows ,but i setup windows xp lost windows 7 and setup windows 7...

Not sure what you have done so far. You need to divide your hard drive into two sections. Install XP first on to one section. Then use a program to manage your computer start up, the one I use is called Easy BCD this is a free program and works great. Once you cut your hard drive and install XP make a copy of your start up partition. Install the Easy BCD program and make a back up again. Then Install Win 7. Then on the Win7 side install the Easy BDC program and set up the menu choices. I run a 3 way boot with XP and Ubuntu. Hope this helps Fix Ya up.

Do I need Windows XP Mode?
Windows 7 has several built-in tools to help with program compatibility and Windows XP programs should be installed directly on Windows 7. Windows XP Mode runs many older Windows XP productivity programs and that are not natively compatible with Windows 7, thus helping realize cost savings and reduce possible operational downtime by extending the life of existing software. Visit the Windows 7 Compatibility Center to find software that works with Windows 7.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

It's the best of both worlds: The new Windows XP Mode lets you run older Windows XP business software right on your Windows 7 desktop.

Designed primarily with small- and medium-sized businesses in mind, Windows XP Mode comes as a separate download and works only with Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise. Windows XP Mode also requires virtualization software such as Windows Virtual PC. Both are available free on the Microsoft website.

What is pagefile.sys do? And why does it take so much space? Also I wanted Windows XP to look more like Windows 7, can any one help?

Pagefile is reserved space on the hard drive in case you run out of physical memory, the hard drive can write the overflow to the hard drive and not crash the PC.

For the Windows 7 look for xp, Google this: Windows 7 theme for XP. You'll find many themes for free that will make xp look like Windows 7 there.

Cheers!

Copy WIndows XP from one hard drive to another

Hi,

Why are wanting to clone your hard drive to another on when all you need to do is install Windows 7 directly onto the new hard drive?
Are you wanting to save all your settings and data before you install Win 7 over the top of XP?

I bought a acer aspire 5542g with window 7 on it

You will have to boot of the XP install disk and reformat a FULL NTFS format, first, that will enable you to wipe the drive and install XP. To save an email, or any file to a flash drive, simply copy/paste or drag and drop onto the drive, the drive must be Formatted first, format FAT32. OR when asked for location to save, point it to the flash drive as normally done.

My hitachi hard drive dosent show up in my computer

The reason it's not showing up in XP is because microsoft made updates to drive handling in Windows 7.

The disk is in essence too "advanced for XP"

Your best solution is to copy the data off the drive onto the windows 7 machine, then format the drive using windows XP. Once formatted, copy your files back onto the drive from the windows 7 computer and both will be able to share the drive.

Hope this helps FixYa,
