Sounds like you turned the machine off whilst hdd was working and corrupted some sectors. Replace the hdd. It slots out and is easily upgradeable. It even tells you how to in the manual.

Ps3 doing this when turning on what can i do ??

Firstly, you should allow this process to complete. Sometimes data on the drive can get corrupted by turning off or unplugging the console at the wrong time, or even just from age. The restoring is attempting to fix the problems on the machine.

If you allow this process to complete itself, you most likely will have no further issues. If your hard drive starting to fail, it may keep happening, or the restoring may fail. In this case you will need to look into replacing the drive, which is a separate process.

System says hard disk drive corrupted needs to be restored but its not restoring

An update failing at around 40% or so means there is a fault with your hard-drive. Time to get a new one.

Corrupted ps3 harddisk

SAFE MODE:

1. Place you finger on the on/off sensor leave it their untill you console turns off then take you finger off the sensor.

2. Place your finger back on the on/off sensor leave it their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps then take your finger off.

3. Once the safe mode screen comes on select the option PS3 SYSTEM RESTORE.

NOTE: A PS3 system restore will delete all data except the OS. I recommend backing up your console onto a USB flash drive if possible.

Good Luck!

On ps3, when switched on, says hard drive corrupted, will restore. after a while trying to restore, same thing comes up again.

  • Turn off the PS3 console, if it isn't already.Press and hold the power button on the console as it powers on, and then powers off again.Press and hold the power button a second time until you hear two consecutive beeps. If your console powers down before you hear the second beep, try holding down the power button again. It should work during the second cycle.Connect your controller to the console with the USB cable when prompted to do so.Turn on the controller. You will now have access to the PS3 recovery menu.Select option three which states "Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files." This option will identify and correct and corrupt files. Your PS3 should now be fixed. If this option doesn't fix your problems, you'll want to do a complete system restore and follow the next step.Turn off the PS3 console by holding down the power button.Press and hold the power button on the console as it powers on, and then powers off again.Press and hold the power button a second time until you hear two consecutive beeps. If your console powers down before you hear the second beep, try holding down the power button again. It should work during the second cycle.Select option 5 which states "Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch." Be aware that performing a complete system restore will cause all data on the hard drive to be lost. This option restores the PS3 back to its original factory condition.

My ps3 says harddisk cannot be found

i have seen this before, if your able to call sony and get a support ticket under warranty id do so if not first try this 1. turn off system completely (this means the switch on the back)
    2. hold touch sensitive reset button down till you hear 3 beeps, than let go.
    3. hold down touch sensitive reset button until you hear 2 beeps and a double beep.
    4. follow on screen directions, choose what option you want (i pick 3, it
    seems to work the best)
    5. follow on screen directions

here is video showing how to fix it watch the video and attempt the steps.
But if this doesnt work it means most likely that the hard drive has failed. If it were corrupted it would ask you to hit x to restore the device. But this is a sure sign of a failed/failing harddrive on the ps3. Let me know if this works or not and i will help assist you from there. If this assisted you please let me know and feel free to rate the solution. Thanks and have a great day and good luck.

    Corrupted hard disk cycle

Your harddisk has failed and needs to be replaced. you will have to take it to a service center or ship it to Sony for repair. This will usually cost 70ish USD for the service and whatever their goign rate for the drive.

your alternative is to search on how to replace the drive yourself and what drives are compatible with the PS3.

    two drives are

    and

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P80F0G/?tag=ps3sp-20

i perfer seagate but many recommend western digital.

When switched on a message comes up.THE HARD DISKS FILE SYSTEM IS CORRUPTED AND WILL BE RESTORED. PRESS THE PS BUTTON TO USE THE CONTROLLER. X ENTER. restoring do not turn off. once this is complete the...

Easy fix. Hold down the power button on the system until it turns red. Release, and repeat. Release and repeat, only this time wait until you hear 2 quick beeps. Release quickly and then you go into Safe Mode, Choose option 5, PS3 System Restore. This will also reformat your disk. System will automatically restart when you complete the system setup. Only warning is you lose all login info and possibly content you have downloaded. You are done.
