SOURCE: my camera has error 31
Your problems most likely came from it being dropped. The fix is time consuming but well worth it since this camera is a nice one to use. You are going to need a set of small screw drivers philips and straight. Also a soldering iron. Take the back off. Easy enough. Then remove the obvious screws you can see. Heat the iron up and remove the solder joints at the battery compartment. there are two and if you have taken all the screws out it will fall into your hand. Dont forget to remove the screws on the top board as well. If you turn the barrell on the lens you might hear a snap and that is a sign the lens has fallen back on to the track. If not take the screws out of the gear box and set the track on the barrell of the lens. This is not all that hard I have done several. Different cameras use different ways of getting to the motor drive. Most you dont have to unsolder, but with this one you do. I love this camera and it is worth the effort to fix. The only fix I kow of is to take the camera apart and set the gears on the lens correctly. You are going to need a small set of phillips and stright screw drivers, and a soldering iron. The back comes off easy enough, the next thing it to remove the screws on the back of the main board. the screws on the top function board. and then unsolder the two tabs on the top of the main board that connects to the battery compartment. Be sure to unsolder the correct ones. Once this comes off the camera lens is pretty easy to figure out. Just take the motor and gear section apart and set it correctly. I have done a few that when I just turned the barrell of the lens, I heard a snap and it worked fine. You may have to take it apart. If you need more help contact me at cwradio73 at gmail.com
