Issue with VOIP CAlling

I have brought a new ASUS laptop with Windows & installed and a USB headphone. Have tested the headphone on skype nad Yahoo messenger and it works just fine. But when I try to make VOIP calls (have tried Both Moittry calls and Action Voip), I am unsbale to hear anything in the headphone and the person on the other end also is not able to hear me. Hence it seems a a generic problem and need to make some changes in the settings and not an issue with the VOIP service provider. But not sure what and where changes need to be made.

Philips voip will not work on my asus essentio CM series

The most likely problem is a lack of Win 7 drivers. next is that the USB connector is either not up to the correct standard (ie USB 1 instead of USB 2) Try another USB connector. or that the USB controller on your motherboard has failed or lacks drivers.

My ASUS S56C ultrabook wont let me make calls on skype. It just comes up as "Problem with playback device."

Have you tried to reboot? Camera, Mic in service? Are you using headphones? Try without. Have you updated Skype recently? If so, Remove and install older version, I have had this issue with Skype Updates, They just don't work well with some machines. Tale a look at older versions here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_skype/ Read The Comments.

How do you turn on the internal mic

Many portable computers no longer include a built-in Condenser Microphone (Mic) in their standard specification, even if a Mic seems to be present (a small hole with an image of a microphone or "Mic" beside it normally sited on the upper part of the screen's plastic frame or occasionally on the Control Panel at the foot of the screen, often what seems to be the Mic is actually just a redundant, optional extra facility under which a MIc could be added by the manufacturer if the specification of the computer required one.

Since many computer-based activities that require Mics, such as Conference Calling, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP - voice calls over the internet) Telephony, Gaming, Skype Internet calls (VOIP calls + Webcam), E-Mail Account Voice Calls, Voice Messaging, Karaoke, Music Recording, etc. also tend to require earphones/headphones as well as Mics, a consensus has built around a preference for dedicated headsets with combined Mic and Headphones functions.

To establish whether a built-in Condenser Mic is specified for and installed in this computer (assuming this computer runs a Windows Operating System):

Start -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control -> Options -> Properties -> scroll down through the audio-related device list to find "Mic" -> tick "Mic" -> OK -> untick "Mute" at the foot of the "Mic" Panel -> Close Volume Control -> Start -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Sound Recorder -> click the button with red dot on it to start recording sound via the built-in Condenser Mic -> Speak, clap or generate sounds near the computer -> if a Mic were installed the waveform in the center of the Sound Recorder box would modulate to reflect the sounds you are making -> if no sound registers during test recording, then check for a power up/mute Mic switch on the front or sides of the computer or on the Control Panel or by using a Function Key to toggles the Mic on and off (press and hold Fn + the relevant Audio Input/Mic Function [F+number] key), then repeat the above test recording procedure with another set of sounds.

If any of the devices, switches, Function keys or tools mentioned above is missing or inaccessible on this computer, then the probability is that no built-in Mic is specified for or installed on it.

In any event, in terms of convenience, ease of use, comfort, posture and both inbound and outbound sound quality, by far the best device for a Conference Call is a dedicated headset (see examples and a potential source below):

A major problem of Skype! I am almost there a year now its metal / Ground Conversation / Offset! this problem even happens by calling "echo / sound test service" (My PC is HP ProBook 4510s) My...

what OS? windows, and What windows, XP?
HP sold it with 7 different OS, (xp to w7 ./32/64bit) and linux.
I cant know what you use for sound at all.
the PC has sound chip and 2 speakers and mic.,
external speakers, or sound buds, what? tell what you have first.
4510s tells little.
if you have U
SB headphones there, it WILL mess up.
USB adds a 2nd sound chip set and they clash with onboard set.
in fact buying new headphones with USB sound and boom mic built in
then going in to device manager and disabling the onboard sound
makes the head phones work real well.
its not metal bs. sorry. that is jive.

i the sound test fails, then it failing that you can be sure.

if no bud, or headphones of any kind
and only internal speaker ;.mic is used
then down load the drivers from HP for you sound
is that hard?

Hi I posted a problem last night about my asus eee pc 1005ha... kept rebooting at windows load screen. so I brought a dvd burner to run windows disk & do repar. it would go through everything fine...

Hi.

Solving your problem is just as easy as 2 hour work. not more..

By the time you were having the restarting problems.. all you had to do was to boot from usb cd-rom using Hirenes boot cd 10.

It starts a small intergrated windows. then you would have to go to a menu to stop some un-named startup bugs that cause the restart when Explorer.exe is being executed by windows.

so now, if you have your backups safe, get instruction on the internet on how to make a bootable usb windows vista or 7 Setup. windows seven comes with many drivers for new laptops.

Boot your computer from USB flash disk, run the windows 7 setup and enjoy..

hope this information helps you because it helped me with Acer One netbook..

good luck
