Question about Nintendo Wii Console
Hi, I would wonder if you haven't gotten a bad controller? If the Software accepts, your "Input" from the (a) Button, and yet still "Asks" for it to be pressed, again, is very unusual, IF after pressing, it doesn't work at all, then most definitely you have a faulty Controller, or controller port. You need to isolate the problem. IF The Nintendo, does NOT respond to the Button, at all. then you will have to try another controller to test it. Now IF it works, after you press the button, but STILL asks you to press it, then you STILL need to swap out the controllers to prove, IF using another controller, a Know Good" one, then your Nintendo, has developed a curious fault, internally, and will have to go back to Nintendo for repair. Also you could try disconnecting from the mains, disconnect and reconnect all controllers, also try "other" games and see if the problem "Follows" form program top program.
