This is an easy part to get and may be in stock at a good parts orented pool store. It will come with a new tube or any generic will fit.
In your water header is a by=pass assembly and what is called a thermal govoner. One or both of these has gone bad and should be replased. They regulate the internal temp of the water in the heater and keep it from causing condasation on the fins of the exchanger. This condasation driping on the pilot is what causes this damage due to the fact the water that drips is highley asidic. These can be a project to change. The pilot itself is held in place with one screw and the bracket swings out on a hook. That part is easy. Good luck.

How do I light my janitrol ucs100-55 heater?

you need to turn on the gas supply. then turn the button on the valve to the "light" position. now press down that button repeatidly until the pilot light lights, when the pilot lights you will need to hold that button down for about 15 seconds. then when you release the button the pilot should stay lit. when it does... turn the button to the "RUN" position. thats it... turn up the thermostat and the heater should kick in.

Can't get any gas to polit light

Are you getting gas to gas valve? if so then pull supply gas line off the gas valve and look in the end of the gas valve there is a screen in it that catches trash make sure its not stopped up. If clear then pull the pilot supply tube from the valve and press knob if you don't get gas out of valve pilot supply hole the replace valve. if gas is coming out of pilot supply hole the check pilot supply tube some times when heater sets up over summer tube stops up at end of tube has a small orifice you will need to open the hole up with a sewing neddle.

Reliance 606 natural gas water heater - model #640YORT - water does not stay hot. pilot has to be clicked to heat and then u can use hot water til tank empty and it will not continue to heat water.

If I understand correctly, the pilot light is not staying lit.
You light the pilot and water in the tank reaches temperature.
Once hot water is gone, then pilot light has to be lit again.

Gas pressure is good, and gas is flowing.
Thermostat is working at high end because it cuts off heating.
Vent is working because tank heats up.
Air intake is working.

Gas control thermostat might not be reading low temperature. Replace gas control valve.
Pilot tube might be dirty. Clean burner parts and combustion chamber, and air intake, and vent.
Backdraft might be blowing out pilot. Check for constant updraft by running water heater 5 minutes, and then light match under vent hood and see if smoke goes up.
Very hot air can put out pilot, especially when water heater located in attic. Add ventilation.
Improper vent might have water dripping back down into combustion chamber and putting out pilot light and rusting out the parts. Inspect for rusted parts and water.

I have an older monterey wall heater that is gas that wont seem to light. I cant even get the gas to start from the pilot can you help me?

You could have a plugged pilot line. You will need to get to the gas valve and shut the gas supply off. Once you did that, unscrew the pilot line that supplies gas to the pilot assembly. You can then turn on the gas supply and rotate the pilot knob to the pilot setting. Depress the knob into the gas valve. You should be able to smell and hear the gas come out of the hole where you unscrewed the pilot line. Don't do this with a cigarette in your face. Once you verify you have gas, release the knob and shut off the gas supply. Take a can of air and blow thru the pilot tube, first from the pilot assembly in the heater then from the open end of the pipe. Replace the pilot tube making sure you don't cross thread the fitting. Tighten well. Again turn on the gas supply, spray or rub some soapy water on the fitting you tightened, depress the knob and hold it. The soap will bubble up if there is a leak. Fix it. Now light the pilot.

The pilot assembly should look similar to the pic above. Depending on where you live, you may be required to hire a certified plumber to replace the parts. If not you can do it your self. Keep in mind if it's not staying lit you also need to check the thermostat and the thermocoupler before replacing the pilot assembly. There is a good chance it is just the thermocoupler going out. It is one of the first things to check when troubleshooting a pilot light problem with a gas water heater. A thermocouple determines if the pilot light is lit. If it's not lit, the gas valve fails. If that's the problem, replace the thermocouple.

  1. Shut off the gas valve on the water heater and the gas valve on the line near the heater. Remove outer and inner doors, and loosen the pilot and supply tubes and the thermocouple connections to remove the burner assembly.
  2. Step 2 Loosen the screw holding the thermocouple to the bracket. Remove old thermocouple. Bring it with you to the store to ensure you are buying the proper replacement.
  3. Step 3 Install the new thermocouple. Position the thermocouple so that the pilot flame heats 1/2 inch of the tip.
  4. Step 4 Reinstall burner assembly in the water heater. Tighten burner supply tube, pilot tube and thermocouple connections. Tighten thermocouple no more than a quarter turn more than hand-tight.
  5. Step 5 Turn on both gas valves. Check supply tube and pilot tube for leaks with soapy water. If soap bubbles, tighten connections to fix leak. Ignite the pilot light, and make sure the thermocouple tip is heating up. Replace inner and outer doors.

Wall heater new 07, worked great all last season, turned on this

there could be something stuck in the pilot assembly since you added a new tank to system. Check to make sure flame is hitting thermalcouple. Can you wait for a repair man to come and take pilot assembly out and clean. He will also replace thermalcouple. If you can't wait and you feel comfortable with taking pilot assembly out. Turn gas and electric off to unit then pull cover panel off. Pilot assembly is held in with two screws. Take tube off of gas valve and take off thermalcouple line off gas valve too. take out pilot assebly. Once you have it out take gas line off bottom of pilot assembly. There is a orfice in side make sure you can see through the orfice. You can also clean thermalcouple with a wire brush or sand papper. Reinstall pilot assembly make sure all fittings are tight. turn gas back on and light pilot. If everything looks good turn power on. Turn heat up run heater for a few minutes then turn heater down and let sit to see if it will stay on.

the pilot light is operated off a millivolt generator. that is the small tube directly in the pilot flame. its purpose is to generate a small dc current which is connected to the pilot valve inside the main valve. setting the control to pilot opens just the pilot gas supply. when operating normally the millivolt generator keeps a small electromagnet pulled in that keeps the pilot gas supply open. if it don't work the pilot gas supply valve closes. replace the thermocouple.
