Question about Cell Phones

2 Answers

I have a Hyundai HDT L66 phone (cordless) and for some reason when you dial a number the sound you hear is of an old-style analogue phone, and since I'm on a digital phone line thru ADSL when you try to phone somebody nothing happens. we can still receive incoming calls, caller display works too, but just dialing out the phone seems to think it's analogue, it worked fine (digital dialling) until today. please help!

Just press top left (R/<-) button about 3 sec. and a letter changes (p - pulse or t - tone).

Your Hyundai HDT L66 phone has been switched from Tone dialing to Pulse dialing. The steps to change your phone back to Tone dialing should be:

  1. Press [Menu/Select]. Select the Setup Menu, and then select the Dial Mode menu.
  2. Scroll with the arrows to select TONE.
  3. Press [Menu/Select] for a confirmation tone.

Your HDT L66 should now be back on Tone dial mode.

I hope that helps.

My Uniden cordless phone will not ring through although I get the tone and put in the number However I can receive calls

It sounds as if your DTMF tones are slightly off frequency for some reason. I have never seen this happen with any phone, but production quality has gone down hill in recent years. As you can call your CELL but not land lines, it would appear that the tones are getting to the central office but are not necessarily being decoded correctly at their end. Try taking the phone system to a friends and try it there. if it works, you will know that it is your line and not your phone. You could also try another DTMF phone on your phone line.

One other thing to check is if you have DP (Dial Pulse) selected on the base unit. If this is selected, you will still hear the tones in your phone, but the exchange will receive dial pulses, which are almost completely unused today. Where I live, you have to pay a premium to use a DP phone now!!

How does one get the handsets to record the new speed dial numbers on the base phone?

I'm pretty sure the speed dial numbers are programmed on a per-phone basis. Most people would not want changes on one phone's speed dial to effect the other phones. I know registering the handsets will not make a difference. If the cordless phone is working, it's registered to the base. This is required so your neighbor cannot buy the same phone model and use your phone line. In the old days cordless phones were permanently linked to one base but now you can get extra handsets on many systems and "register" the phone to work on your base.

Can you hear the tones when you dial? Is there a (tone / pulse dial) switch or programming option?
