Question about Computers & Internet

I cannot install Print Workshop 2008. I have tried going to RUN, and installing device updates, but nothing works. Am I out $20. I had a problem with Print Workshop 2004 but at least I could install it.

    I have installed the CD but I can't open it up. A message pops up saying "PW2008 has encountered a problem and needs to close". I have anti-virus software installed and someone told me that might be the problem which doesn't make sense at all to me. Every computer needs anti virus protection.
    Can you help ASAP. I need to get out 75 graduation invitations. Thanks!

Usually you just put the CD in the drive and it automatically runs. Do you have more than one CD? Sure you're starting with the right one? Once you have the CD in the drive, double click on My Computer, then double click on the Compac Disk drive icons. If that doesn't start it, it will at least display the names of the files on the CD. Look for the Setup program and double click on that. Good luck.

    Here's a battery of tests ...



    Is the drive still working? Have you tried a regular CD lately?



    When you insert the DVD, does anything happen? If you double-click on My Computer, and then on Compac disc, do any files show up? Do you get a message 'Please insert disk into Drive D:." or whatever letter?



    Is your computer older and can't read DVD's? Do you have access to another computer, and if so, have you tried the install program there?



    You still have a few options to try before giving up!



    If you know you have a DVD drive, then get another DVD and see if thats still working, but that's a great big stretch in diagnosis.

Sometimes new OS versions are not backward compatible with older exterior hardware. Try going to Canon's website and finding an updated driver. Also try microsoft.com to get driver info for your printer.

An update does not always mean a map update, it could just be a software update, as in they found an error that had to be corrected so they released an update. Run the update. As for the maps, these can be anywhere from 6 weeks to 20 years before they get an update, depends on when the companies that do the gps mapping, make it around and have enough changes for the gps UNIT maker to purchase these new map updates. Print Shop 2.0 Deluxe will not load.


Have you tried installing them in Compatibility Mode? If not, look in
Vista's Help
& Support for how to try this. If that doesn't work, you can
try installing them as Administrator by right-clicking on the installer
executable and choosing "run as Administrator".
If none of that works, I'm sorry but you'll need to update to a current
version of the program that the mftr. says will work in Vista.

I want to make business cards but don't know where to begin


if your print workshop has cd with it install it then choose the template for business cards , design it and print. If your cards do not have cd with it you will have to go to openoffice.org download what you need to create the business cards. Hope this helps if it does'nt repost I will be watching for it.

I have a relatively new Toshiba which has windows vista. I've installed Print workshop 2008 and everytime I try to add a new sheet to create a book for a scrap book I receive An unhandled exception has...


Hate to say it, because I use Vista myself, but it seems that the program "Print Worshop 2008" not really that compatible with Vista...even though they claim that it will work fine. Just another compatibility bug within the two programs. Try first updating your system with all patches, and service packs, or download 2009 version of Print Workshop. I would also try contacting Valusoft.(Valusoft.com). Ask them to send you the newest version (they should send it to you for free if you bought the older version and it is not working)

I am trying to install a lexmark 640 series printer to my new compaq laptop with windows vista. I installed the printer using the installing **** that came with and it says it was successfully installed...


Have you tried going thru the control panel, printers and faxes and selecting ( with the right mouse button) that printer and then properties... to print a test page? or.. have you used the device manager to check that the printer is working properly? To use the device manager, right mouse button MY COMPUTER then selct the Hardware tab and then Device Manager.. You may find your printer listed under Imaging Devices.. Right mouse that and select Properties.. You wil have some options there to update the drivers too.. Hope these tips get you going...

Kim....for the people that try to help on this site as well as tech forums or contacting the supplier you will need to be a bit more specific.....what is it that you see...there should be some sort of message. Forgetting that for the moment though you could have one of the following problems...a corrupt cd (meaning bad), incompatible with your operating system (if running an older O/S this is very possible since you are running a newer Value Print Workship), or a missing driver. Your best bet is to go to their website...valuesoft...and check FAQ's. There might be an answer there and if not try to use the support function.
