Hi, own a Sony Vaio VGN P530H with hardisk Toshiba MK6028GAL damaged. as forced to replace unit, wonder could install a higher capacity? Brand & model if available please!!! thanks to all of you!!!

The VAIO VGN-T350 is a notebook computer designed and distributed by Sony.
The hard drive on your Sony VAIO VGN-T350, which is the unit that stores data, consists of many clusters of data that can be rewritten with new data.
If you are looking for a memory capacity upgrade, or if your old hard drive is having errors, it's time for an upgrade.
Upgrading the hard drive on your Sony VAIO will require the use of a screwdriver and will take you about 30 minutes to complete.

Turn off your Sony VAIO VGN-T350 and remove the power cord and any other peripheral components.
Turn over your Sony VAIO VGN-T350 and locate the hard drive chamber on the bottom of your laptop. It will be clearly labeled.

Use the screwdriver to remove the screw holding the lid in place.
Gently lift the hard drive and its cage away from your laptop and disconnect the data cord.
Remove the four screws located at the corners, and then remove your old hard drive from its cage.
Place your new internal laptop hard drive into the cage and replace the screws.
Connect the data cord to your new hard drive and place your new hard drive into its chamber.
Close the lid and replace the screw to complete the operation.

This might not be your specific laptop it might give you an insight into the hard drive installation.

Ebay this hard drive should fit there are smaller capacity drives that will be compatible.

Hello to all experts out here, i have this problem.i have an 80Gbts harddrive in my PC. and i want to add 2 harddrives of 40Gbts each. i have tried to do this by my self but i have this diffault. i...

Try these things,

Keep the main, original hard drive pin selected to "master", make sure the original hard drive is connected to the motherboard at the default connection.

IDE's it should be the last connector on the cord and not shared with the cd/dvd rom cord.

Sata's it should be the number "one" connector on the motherboard. The board is typically labeled and with numbers.

The new hard drives you should try putting them into "cable select" since you said setting them to "slave" doesnt work. It's a good idea to just go into bios to make sure those connectors are enabled. Some desktop bios are set to off or disabled.

Do you have a CD/DVD player? Sometimes I have seen they can interfere with adding hard drives. Why not remove it for the time being just to see if it works.

Where is the best place to get a new hard drive for a sony vaio pcg-frv25? I need a ide pata hard drive.

You're on the right track--it doesn't need to be custom-manufactured for Sony notebooks--just needs to be an internal mobile IDE-PATA hard drive. Still, I would recommend at least looking for something name brand with a decent warranty. Amazon and Newegg.com both have the Western Digital WD2500BEVE (250GB) for $79.99. That's a decent price (not mind-boggling), but more importantly it's a solid size/price reference point--e.g., if you find a 500GB name-brand hard drive for the same price, pull the trigger immediately.

How can i connect a seagate barracuda hard drive to a sony vaio desktop pcv-rz22g? i'm installing an a additional hard drive but can't seem to find a sata connector on the motherboard, so there's no way...

You can't find a SATA connector because there isn't one. That computer was built before SATA drives were widely available. You will need a Serial ATA controller PCI card to connect your SATA drive to your computer, such as here:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1455&name=Serial-ATA-Controllers&
Make sure it is a PCI card and NOT a PCI-Express (or PCI-e) card, as your computer doesn't have any PCI-Express slots either. Here's an example of what you need:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3501402&CatId=1455

Also, the Barracuda is probably a 3.0 Gbps drive, but will only run at the slower 1.5 Gbps speeds from the PCI interface cards. Again, it's an age thing. That computer was a top dog in it's day.

The port you plug the power cord into is not making a good connection - how to fix?

Try to pull the tab from the inside (Laptop) outward a little but be gentle, this holds the cable firm.

My Sony Vaio VCG-RB53 will not turn on. Just went dead. Other peripherals on the same power source are fine. I first got a black screnn with white writing and it tryed several times to start Windows XP and...

It could be the PSU (power supply unit), one that has a fan working and where the power cord goes into. If that goes bad then the computer becomes dead as there is no power going to any of its systems. If there is any sign of life in the computer then you can try by removing the RAM and reinserting them. Or by unplugging the connector from the PSU to the mother board. But remember to plug it in in the same way that you remove it from. remember it by the color of the cables. If by mistake you turn the connector by 180 degrees then the mother board will get burnt.

A bit of research revealed that the system came with a 250GB SATA drive, and the BIOS should have recognized either drive. Check the cable from the Hard Drive to the Mother Board if possible, including the Power connectors.

VGN-Tx750p does not start up

The Operating System may have got corrupted. In this case, you may reinstall Windows using the VAIO Recovery Wizard, provided you've not changed the factory installed Windows Operating System.

The VAIO Computer is shipped with the VAIO Recovery Wizard housed in a 5 GB of hidden partition on the pre-installed Hard Drive.

Restart the Computer and keep tapping the F10 key until the VAIO logo appears to access the VAIO Recovery Wizard.

Follow the steps given in the link below to use the VAIO Recovery Wizard to reinstall Windows, Drivers and all the pre-installed applications.
