SOURCE: Leaking dishwasher

I just had this same problem and it was caused by a small plastic seal on the bottom of the door. My friend owns an appliance store and he said this is a common problem for this model of dishwasher. The part was $68 and the labor was $60. I could have easily fixed it myself if I knew what the problem was but he came out and fixed it so I had to pay the $60 for the service call.

The part number on the repair bill is 14633F. I'm not sure if that's the frigidaire part number or the one from my buddy's inventory. Anyway, hope this helps.

Also, one other word of advice........use a little less soap and it won't suds up quite as high, which will help in the mean time.

SOURCE: water left in dishwasher

  • Check sink drain and drain hose for restrictions . The drain hose can cause the dishwasher to fail to drain properly. The recirculation hose can be responsible for problems with poor rinsing of dishes.
  • To access the drain hose remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to reach the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel.
The drain hose connects to the pump and runs to the sink drain (or to the air gap on top of the sink). The pump has a second hose that recirculates the water back into the dishwasher. The drain hose is roughly 1 1/2 inches in diameter. While inspecting the drain hose, check the recirculation hose as well.
If checking for leaks, feel the hoses where they connect to the pump, for wetness and check the ground right under the connections. If they are wet, it may be a loose or improperly mounted clamp, a damaged pump housing or a leak in the hose itself.
If checking for blockages, disconnect the drain hose from the pump, pinch the wire clamp with pliers and slide it up the hose. Place a shallow pan beneath the pump to catch any spillage. Remove the hose from the pump; wiggling the hose may help to loosen it.
Check the hose and nipple to the pump for any debris. The only way to be certain the drain hose is completely clear is to disconnect it from the sink and run water through (such as spraying a garden hose through it at full pressure). Disconnect the recirculation hose and check it in the same way.
  • Unjam the motor
  • Unjam the pump
  • Check the drain valve
  • Check the drive belt
  • Test the timer motor
  • If you have a brand new dishwasher or garbage disposer, check the knock out plug on the garbage disposer.

SOURCE: water standing in Dishwasher

Hello buzzy220,
If you have water remaining in the bottom of your dishwasher then I would check the following:

  1. The drain filter screen is free from food byproducts that might limit drainage.
  2. The drain line exiting the dishwasher itself.. is it kinked or clogged?
  3. If your drain line is plumbed into a garbage disposal side entry, is that clogged or your house drain clogged?
  4. Is your dishwasher pump contaminated with sediment or anything that would limit its ability to pump?
  5. Are the water lines that come into or out of the pump blocked, damaged or restricting water flow?
Those are the main reasons areas of concern to investigate.. BTW, your drain line exitting the dishwasher should be routed up high and down into your sink drain system or thru the garbage disposal tap so that you have an air gap as 20YRSEXP was inquiring about..

You can run a simple test to verify all this..
Detach your drain hose from the house drain system ( from the garbage disposer or sink drain.. then route that into a rubber barrel ( be sure to keep part of the house up around the height of the countertop when you do this.. )... You should see a fairly robust flow of drain water into it when the system functions properly.. I would encourage you to run this test with no dishes inside it,.. This test will tell you if the restriction is in the dishwasher or house drain side..
Hope this helps you..
Regards,
Rick

Will not empty completely. If I jam a sponge under the water level float, it WILL empty completely.

Good Afternoon Paul, thanks for your post!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire dishwasher will not drain out completely. It is not uncommon for there to be some water left inside the bottom of your tub. I would recommend checking you filter to make sure that it is clean. The filter is located under the bottom rack in the center of the tub. Once you have removed that and cleaned it out you may see water less in the bottom of it. I hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Water standing in tub

If there is a lot of water sitting inside the applicance, it's possible that the high water float switch has been activated and is preventing the dishwasher from running. Open the door, remove the bottom rack, dip as much water out of the bottom as possible with a shallow ladle or even tupperware container. When that is accomplished, shut the door and try to run a drain cycle. If the unit won't start, you may have to remove more water. You don't have to have the rack in place to run the drain cycle.

My whirlpool dishwasher is leaking water from the bottom of door

Water is being forced out under the bottom door seal. Is the lower spray arm melted on the bottom? Or is there something directing the water flow toward the bottom of the tub instead of up toward the dishes?

Water remains at the bottom of the dishwasher

some dishwashers have water left after the final rinse. it is important to keep the motor seals wet between loads. My filter is always immersed. If we go away for two weeks, I put 2 litres of water into the tub and let it soak 24 hr so that I never start it with dry seals.
