Question about Mitsubishi WS-65413 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Rolling screen 65813

Hi,
I read your fix for this from last year (on March 28 -- my bday!). The link to the pip kit isn't working anymore. Does it just need new capacitors. I had to replace 4 capacitors on the DM board a few months ago to fix the "blinking green light of death." Now this. It seems to me that the PIP unit was fairly easy to get to. If you have any suggestions, part #'s, etc. it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

David

There is a small surface mount IC location num IC9C25 on the board next to the DM. it is at the bottom right corner if looking from the back. this a 9v regulator P/N BA09FP this might be your problem. be careful taking it off because you do not want to damage any traces. i suggest taking the input board off.

The fix for this is here somewhere, as I had the same problem last January and the solution was posted here in March last year. I'll try to find it and post the link to it for you, later.

It sounds as if your convergence ICs have failed again,However if you didnt replace the convergence resistors with the ICs that is most likely the cause of early IC failure. There is a quick test to determine if the ICs have failed. Remove the front speaker panel and access panel up front, and you will see the convergence panel with the two black heatsinks. Directly in front of those heatsinks are three wire clips that are for the convergence yokes, Unplug those three wire plugs and try turning on your set. If it comes on the ICs have failed, and the ICs and resistors should be replaced as a kit. You can get the repair kit for the JVC rear projections at the following link with free instructions. Heres the link.

Rear project TV problem

yes it can be fixed depending on your model number if its the VS50605 they have a kit to repair the PIP module which controls vertical sync (Rolling) or you can bypass the module to correct it but you would lose the PIP function. Let me know if you need more info.

Rolling screen

Ahh the old rolling picture problem. If this set has a Picture in picture feature, your problem is on the PIP module itself. There is a kit of surface mounted capacitors that need to be replaced If you have some soldering skills you should be able to do this your self, but if you do not, I advise you to get someomne who does as most of these PIP modules are not available any longer. The kit can be purchased from http://www.mcminone.com/search.asp?keyword=Mitsubishi+PIP+kit&btnSubmit.x=6&btnSubmit.y=7 Good Luck
