I HAVE LAPTOP IBM THINKPAD T30 AND I WANT TO CONNECT HARD DISK 80GB OR MORE

  • Supported HDD thickness:
    • 12.5 mm for systems without the touch pad
    • 9.5mm for systems with the touch pad
  • Standard 20GB, 40GB, 60GB HDD sizes.
    Note:
    • The 60GB HDD orderable as marketing option part number 08K9688 has a height of 12.5mm and will not fit in the HDD slot of the systems with the touch pad installed. For these systems, it is only supported via the ThinkPad 2nd HDD Adapter for the Ultrabay 2000.
    • The 60GB HDD orderable as replacement service part number 08K9833 is 9.5mm.
  • Supports one additional HDD which can be used concurrently to offer expanded storage utilizing the Ultrabay 2000
  • S.M.A.R.T technology to issue an alert if a hardware failure is pending
  • ATA Bus Interface
  • 4200 or 5400 rpm
  • Although you can upgrade the HDD, it is not designed to be removed and reinserted on a regular basis. Repeated and frequent removal, for purposes other than to upgrade for greater capacity, can cause damage to the system. The Ultrabay 2000 HDD adapter is designed to provide this flexibility with a second HDD in the Ultrabay 2000 IBM says. I say if the OS recognises it and so does the BIOS, you're good. good luck, hope this helps.-jmattes p.s. I found this info on: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-42218.html

What spec came with this PC; Medion PC MT6 Typ: MED MT 315?

Hi there.
I think that the repair shop that you have taken the machine to has done nothing to this machine at all, Medion do use Samsung ram (usually 512MB) and MSI motherboards, the full specs i cannot find as the machine is now discontinued.
What tells me they have done nothing is the fact you mentioned that the internals of the case was still full of dust and all the wires and memory was loose.
Any decent and honest PC technician cleans the inside of the case, memory, CPU fan and power supply, and if they fit a new motherboard you can always tell because its clean and completely free of dust, including the CPU fan.
Did you get charged for this? In my country we have a government run company called "trading standards" this is put into place to prevent company's taking advantage of you like that, check into that law in your own country.
This has happened to my parents when their PC went down while i was away on holiday and what they had done was replace the the memory and processor with cheap ones.
With me being a PC technician i already knew the specs so i threatened them with legal action if they did not replace the original components and refund the money.
I personally feel dismayed that company's do this to people just because they think that you may not know any better, plus it gives honest PC techs a bad name.
My advice to you is take the machine back, show them the inside of the case and the state of the wires and loose memory and threaten them with legal action if they do refund you your money (providing you kept the receipt)
I really do hope that you can get this sorted out as its quite unfair to yourself.

Best of luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
