HELLO,The electric motor has a thermal switch and is self-resetting so there is no re-set switch. Make sure the air filter for the exhaust is clean. Also make sure that the height adjustment is not too low causing strain on the motor. Always bring the height down to where the brushes just make contact with the carpet. It is possible that the thermal safety switch is tripping due to a bad switch. In that case If it's still under warranty you can contact Dirt Devil to loge complain.
thanks for using fixya,

take care.

Dyson vacuum- no spinning when dirt enters collection tube

It depends what you are sucking up. Not everything spins in there. If it is otherwise working fine, don't worry about it.

Dyson Dco7 animal not picking up from floor. Checked all connection valves and cleaned filter and brushes. Also check tube for cracks and nothing there. Wand suction is great just almost non on floor...

I would check the "U" shape tube under wand that goes under body of machine. There is a button to release it. I would also check to make sure that your brushes are spinning properly. When you tip the vacuum back the brushes engage. Carefully place your hand on the brushes to see if they stop. If they do then your belt is stretched and you need to replace the clutch assembly. That part is not an easy fix. You can also check the tube that leads from the bottom plate to the housing. It will pop off at the housing with little pressure. Those are the most common places to check. Good luck

Is the cyclone suppose to be spinning when you vacuum? I have a Dyson DC07

The cyclone doesn't spin on the inside. The dirt will spin due to the cyclonic currents inside the canister.

Dirt Devil Reaction Dual Cyclonic- M110000, "cyclones" not spinni

If the filters have been washed and installed back in instantly there wont be any suction. Check the top filters have been cleaned thoroughly and also check inspection tubes/hose and dust channels to check for a clog. Also check the sole plate / bottom of where the beater bar as there may be a clog somewhere.

I have a dyson that is picking up just fine when on vacuum mode, however when I try to use the suction tube there is no suction at all. It is not blocked and the canister is empty. Help!

Hi, I have an upright DC03, brilliant machine. Mine wouldn't **** and had the following symptoms;
- it sucked ok from the top hole where the canister joins the unit - with the canister the dust didn't spin aroun inside the canister like it normally does and there was no **** at the hose end or brush end. - with the top of the canister attached (the cyclone) but not the bottom it sucked through the cyclone - the small valve on top of the cyclone unit was sucking heaps
this indicated to me the machine was sucking through the cyclone unit but when the canister was put on it was blocked - hence the tremendous sucking through the valve on the top of the cyclone. As far as I could see the cyclone wasn't blocked so I poked some wire down the tube inside the machine that runs from the bottom of the unit (where the hose sits) up to the bottom hole where the canister joins.
The DC03 has 2 holes where the canister attaches, it seems like it sucks air through the top hole, through the cyclone and through the lower hole sucks the dust up this inner tube into the canister. Check that tube, shine a torch from the top hole and you should be able to see the light at the bottom. Make sure you clear it completely.
Mine was very very blocked. I kept poking and removing dust until I could see light at through the tube. Works fine now.
Hopefully this helps someone as it took me awhile to work it out.
Good luck

DC07 cylone not cycloning

Hi Michele.

The yellow tube with the fins on does not spin. So that is fine.
If you have pets or lots of fluff vacuumed up it may not roll around in the waste bin when using this is normal & nothing to worry about.
Just empty bin & start cleaning you will see the grit particles spinning but as you collect fluff or hair that may roll around at first but as more is sucked up it will stay still.
