Question about Husqvarna Forest & Garden #952802239 235E 16" Gas Chain Saw

Husqvarna 235 not an e model, Will not start, no spark to plug.

Hi,
I have a Husqvarna 235 not an e model, it is less than a year old but I can't find my receipt for it. It’s been working fine until now, It will not start because it will not generate a spark to the plug. I took the plug out cleaned the top of the cylinder head and then checked for a spark, nothing. I have tried a new spark plug, no luck. I tested the spark plug wire from the ignition pack for a brake in the wire, and it is fine, there is no brake.

I am at a complete loss of why it will not generate a spark. I think that from where the spark plug wire goes into the ignition pack, which is a sealed unit, the pack must be faulty. Please can anybody help me, you may no different that can help me resolve this annoying problem and I would be most grateful.

Regards,

Dave

Hello David; We are prohibited from contacting you directly. It sounds as though the ignition module is defective but it could also be a defective switch or interconnecting wire, try this please, it tests the entire system.

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You do not have to bend up the electrode.

Ignition module gap
Place a business or index card between the fly wheel and coil, rotate until the magnetic attraction pulls everything tight together. Tighten the coil screws, rotate the flywheel until the attraction eases and remove the card. Ensure nothing contacts when flywheel is rotated.

In the USA a duplicate receipt can usually be obtained from the merchant, there too? If not what about your credit card receipt?

I would try my local Husky dealer once the problem is isolated.

Its seldom a high tension coil gives trouble but if you are sure its not the wire to the plug or the stop wire from the coil to the switch, check the air gap between the coil and the flywheel for dirt or grease. If it is the coil, you should have no problem picking up a used one in a repair shop. Stephen.

3 month old Husqvarna 235. Refuled. Won't start. Plug is firing. Primer bulb gets full. Still won't start.

These machines have had issues with main bearing cages breaking up, this it turn scores the piston and snags the ring in, if there is a good spark and the plug is getting wet i woud whip the muffler off and take a look at the piston through the exhaust port.

Wont start got spark and fuel husqvarna 235 model #9528021-55 serial # 2010 0700375

Is the saw mechanically sound? remove the muffler and check the condition of the piston through the exhaust port, any sign of damage or scuffinf and it will need to come apart for further investigation, they are very prone to the drive side main bearing breaking up and damaging the piston.

I am unable to pull cord to start, on my Cainsaw model 235.

Remove the spark plug and try to pull the starter--if ok, open the throttle and pull through several times to expel excess fuel from the cylinder. Check for blue snappy spark at the plug after this--if weak or nothing, try a fresh plug gapped at 0.020". If the engine still doesn't turn after removing the spark plug, it may have been run without oil in the fuel which will cause serious damage to the piston/ring(s) and cylinder. Remove the muffler and inspect these parts through the port behind the muffler--if badly scored, they will need to be replaced--an expensive process even if you do the work yourself. You might consider a new replacement saw if an estimate is very high. Hope this helps!

only thing left would be the timing of the spark. inspect rotor, key may have broke and spun on shaft.

Husqvarna 357 XP Hard starting when warm.

I work for warcks county council, the husky 357xp is our main saw. We've experienced the same problem with many of our new 357's. after many hours of trying to solve the problem (including swapping carbs from old broken saws etc) i stumbled upon, by fluke i'm afraid, a problem with the ngk bpmr7a spark plugs. They seem to work fine for a short period of time (even new out of the box) then leak compression from the cylinder. We are running a esser rated bosh spark plug which seems to have eliminated the problem, (can't remember the number, sorry). We have now ordered champion plugs to replace the stock. Probably worth a try. Hope this is of some help.
