Question about Kenmore Elite Oasis 6808 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

No power to dryer

I have a 30 yr old kenmore electric dryer. The circuit breaker is ok, the outlet is ok. I know some have a fuse and I'm not sure where it is at(if it has one). If so, what is the best way to test and replace. I am fairly handy at working on our dryers. Have replaced belts, heating elements, temp sensors before for others and ours(not this one). The model # is 86582620-65826
Thank you for your help!

Hi Lawrence, this is AP! Thank you for your post.

I understand you are having trouble with your Frigidaire electric dryer. Without knowing the specific model number there are still some troubleshooting tips I can recommend. Make sure the dryer is plugged into the outlet, and plugged in correctly. Check to see if the house fuse is blown or circuit breaker tripped. If so, replace fuse or re-set circuit breaker. If your house uses fuses, there are two house fuses that supply voltage to the dryer circuit in your fuse box. If one of the two fuses is blown, the dryer may turn but will not heat. Check and replace fuse in fuse box if necessary. If the house has circuit breakers, there may be two breakers with switches that supply voltage to the dryer. Circuit requirements are individual 30 amp. branch circuit fused with 30 amp. time delay fuses or circuit breakers. Your dryer requires a power supply of 240 volts to operate. Make sure that the electrical circuit is not overloaded and correct. The dryer must be on a circuit by itself. Overloaded circuits can damage the dryer and possibly cause damage to home. If needed have a Licensed Electrician check to make sure it is on a circuit by itself.

Lastly, the thermal limiter could have tripped or there is an internal problem with the dryer. A thermal limiter automatically turns off the motor (electric dryers only) in the unlikely event of an overheated situation. If this is the case I would recommend contacting an authorized service for repair as this is not a typical DIY project. Contacting an authorized technician can ensure no troubleshooting step has been missed. Parts are often costly and if the problem is precisely diagnosed, it can save you a lot of time and funds.

You can use the link below if you need assistance in locating an authorized technician in your area. I hope this information proves helpful for you.

My dryer quit heating and I replaced thermal fuse. It heats now, but when the door is opened it does not stop running. The switch seems to be OK. Have any suggestions? It did not do this before fuse...

Hello Rohanna

You need to check this following:
Make sure the dryer is plugged in securely
Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker
Test the power outlet for voltage
Inspect the electrical cord for damage
Eliminate use of an extension cord, if any is being used
Check the outlet voltage
Test the door switch
Test the start switch
Test the safety fuse
Test the thermostats
Test the timer motor
Test the motor

My 4 yr. old Maytag electric dryer stopped in the middle of drying towels and wouldn't restart. I called one repairman who told me it was my motor and I called another repairman closer to where I live and he came out and replaced my fuse. My dryer works fine now.

Have kenmore 61951 dryer PF comes on go thru the steps it turns on and then shuts off what could be the problem

PF is a power failure error meaning electricity has been interrupted to the machine. Any electrical interruption to the machine such as a circuit breaker being reset or weather related power outage can cause a PF error code. Try resetting the appliance by disconnecting it from the outlet or switching off the circuit breaker for 20-30 minutes, then restore the power. If the reset doesn't work I suspect the control board has failed.

My kenmore gas dryer end buzzer goes off and dryer shuts down before cycle is complete

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Kenmore gas dryer
  • Vacuum with hose attachment
  • Replacement fuse, if necessary
    Dryer Not Heating
  1. Remove lint from your dryer's lint screen. Remove the lint screen from your Kenmore dryer and vacuum the area behind the lint screen with your vacuum's hose attachment.
  2. Check to make sure that the dryer temperature is set appropriately, and has not inadvertently been turned to "Air Fluff."
  3. Ensure that the gas valve on the supply line to your Kenmore dryer is completely open.
  4. Check the room temperature in your laundry room to make sure that it is at least 45 degrees. Your Kenmore dryer will not operate properly at temperatures below 45 degrees.
  5. Make sure that the dryer outlet grill is not blocked by a fabric softening sheet.
  6. Dryer Not Running
  7. Check to see that the dryer cord is properly plugged in to the electrical outlet.
  8. Check your fuse box to make sure that the fuse is not blown, or check your circuit breaker to make sure that it has not tripped. Replace the fuse if necessary or throw the circuit breaker.
  9. Check the outlet itself to make sure that it functions properly by plugging in a portable device.
  10. please comment on these solution on how it works by rating or voting.

Blowing breaker

hi. I can help you.

Electric dryers use 220 volts or two power lines of 110 volts each. Some components in the dryer need only 110 volts; the heating element requires 220 volts. So it's possible for one part of the dryer to be fine and another part to have a short circuit. Short circuits can be caused by the heating element, the main power cord, or any other part of the internal wiring. To decide where the problem lies, unplug the dryer, then:

  • If the circuit breakers or fuses remain on and/or intact when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the dryer. Contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • If the circuit breaker trips or the fuse blows when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the house wiring, fuse box, or circuit box. Contact a qualified electrician.

My Kenmore electric dryer runs but no heat ....

Before I wish you luck i want you to review all of the possible reasons for your problem

If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:

Power from the house
Heating element
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Where is the circuit breaker or fuse on a Kenmore Gas Dryer?

no heat usually means your only getting110 volts into your dryer.....you need the full 220volts to run heaters....with voltage meter you checkwires on the plug OUTLET...or inside back cover REDwire to WHITEwire =110v.........BLACKwire to WHITEwire =110v.....REDwire to BLACKwire =220v. you probably have aBAD 220V. 30 amp circut breaker..or if still using FUSES one is burnt out (In house electric panel) or burnt off RED or BLACKwire in back of dryer.....
