Ac adaptor crackling thru external speakers

Allan, It sounds like you have what is called a ground loop. A ground loop can occur when two pieces of equipment are connected together through a home or buildings safety ground through the same power source. For instance, your PC is connected to a power source through the AC adapter or plug, and your external powered speakers are receiving power from the same power source. The surrounding cables as well as the AC adapter(s) can act like an antenna. This will cause a low hum or crackling that would be audible through the speakers or headphones.

You may want to try plugging all components into a power strip so they are all on the same circuit. You may also want to be sure that the AC adapter cables are not not laying or running across other electrical components plugged into a different socket.

If you get the same hum through your headphones check to see if the headphones were manufactured with shielded cabling. A shielded cable is made with a wire mesh around the outside that helps reduce electrical noise. Hope this helps a little. Thanks!

Garmin 260w will not power up weve not used it in a while

Sounds like a bad or low battery. Do you have the Garminapproved charger / car charger?? You may have to send your GPS in for batteryreplacement or try this: There are three ways to charge the internal battery in yourautomotive GPS unit.1 Use the provided vehicle power cable that came with your GPSunit. The unit will charge while powered on and using the device as wellas when the GPS unit is powered off and plugged into a running vehicle. About 3hrs for a full charge. If the unit will not charge in the vehicle, check thefuse in the power cable for the unit and the power outlet in thevehicle. Use an AC power adaptor. Some units come with thispower cable to plug the GPS unit into a wall outlet allowing the GPS unit totake a charge. For units that do not come with this cable, one can bepurchased from Garmin's onlinestore. For most units, the final way of charging the battery is toplug the GPS into a powered on computer with a USB cable2. This method ofcharging will be a trickle charge and it may take longer (like a full day) thanthe other two options, however it will still charge the battery. A USBcable is provided with a few GPS models. For those that don't come with thiscable, one can either be ordered from the onlinestore or you can use a standard USB to mini-USB cable that fits the unitand plugs into your computer. 1 - Please note that temperature can play an effect on thecharging of a device. If the battery registers a temperature of 0°C and belowor 45°C and above (32°F and 113°F respectively) then it will not charge. Whenconnected to external power it will only be operating off of external power. 2 - The Quest® and Quest® 2 will not charge using a USBcable.

My wife's Nuvi 350 will power on, start loading maps, then shut down (stays on for a total of 18 seconds). It's only 2 years old.

If its not connected to an external power source, then your battery is shot.

Should not do this when connected to an external power souce like the DC car charger or AC wall charger.

It will not stay on even when plugged into a power source. It shuts down while loading the maps (about 5 seconds).

Check to make sure the rear mini USB port isnt loose or broken. That will prevent the battery from charging or working on an external power source. See this link:

My garmin 750 gps will not turn on when plugged into power source

A dead battery will cause the unit not to turn on, but it should turn on if connected to an external power source like an AC wall charger or DC car charger.

Garmin 660 wont operate on power lead

Are you using the Garmin AC adapter or the Garmin car adapter? Using the wrong cable and the Garmin will think that you are trying to connect to a computer. Not all USB cable are alike.

When connected to your computer it thinks that you want to upload or donwload information.
