Tip & How-To about Office Equipment & Supplies

Samsung ML-2525W printer & Mac OS X 10.6

I think there are 6 ways (at least?) to connect this printer:
(1) Direct to Mac (or PC) via USB Cable (2) Direct to Mac (or PC) via Ethernet Crossover Cable (3) Ethernet to router/switch, with Mac/PC also via Ethernet to router/switch (4) Ethernet to router/switch, with Mac/PC via WiFi (802.11 wireless) (5) WiFi to router, with Mac/PC via Ethernet to router/switch (6) WiFi to router, with Mac/PC also via WiFi
As (1) should be simplest, tried this first. First document would print instantly and completely, next doc would hang in queue with unexpected msg, "Printer is offline." Only way to print 2nd doc was to power cycle (off-on) the printer. This problem occurred whether 2nd doc was sent to printer before or after 1st doc had printed. Tried 2nd USB cable, tried new driver, tried reinstalling printer; same problem. Spoke to both Samsung and Apple support, including both on a conference call; never got this to work and never clarified if problem was in printer hardware/software, driver, or something else.
Nothwithstanding USB problem, did succeed in modes (4) and (6), although custom wireless config needed since my network does not broadcast SSID and requires an encryption password. Also required different driver for wireless config (as opposed to USB).

hp a345w desktop pc dcs server not found conflict

what OS, we can NOT GUESS your operating system.
so where are you , home or star bucks.?
what is your connection, wifi, ethernet, or others?
a desktop pc can have vast ways to get internet.

1: modem dial up (i bet not this, nobody uses this now, 99.9)
2: cable modem, sat modem, fiber modem to ISP
3: USB wifi dongle, on PC and to local router.
4: PCI card wifi. , to router.
5: ethernet wired to router or modem direct. a cable wire. CAT5/6

one can even have direct wired ethernet to the cable modem
or you might have wired to wifi router (2 ways to connect there)

NO OS stated
no connections stated.

my guess is DCS, means DHCP not found, or DNS not found.
lots of causes, but I will not attempt to answer for all 6 ways.
sorry

Both companies now showing this issue as unresolved. Nothwithstanding USB problem, did succeed in modes (4) and (6), although custom wireless config needed since my network does not broadcast SSID and requires an encryption password. Procedure required connecting first via Ethernet, obtaining Configuration Report by holding down orange button for 5 seconds, then using browser to connect to the printer's IP address. Also required different driver for wireless config (as opposed to USB). Bottom line: What seemed simple - USB direct connect - proved unworkable, but wired and wireless network config works fine.

I am trying to install a cable modem with usb and ethernet connections on a windows xp computer.

Well there are 2 ways
via Ethernet
1.) connect the ethernet from the modem to the ethernet of the computer via the cable provided and thats should basically setup and give you an ip automatically
Via Usb
2.) install the drivers that came on a cd with the model
2.) follow the onscreen instructions and connect the modem via the usb cable when it tells you to
3.) when setup is complete it will create a connect icon for you, just run it to connect
