The 901's will need an amplifier. THAT will be where the iPod may connect. Specify the amp, receiver or other electronics for a better answer.

There has to be some amplification in here somewhere. Any single amplifier will not work correctly with the Active EQ for 901's applied to non-901 speakers.

Any MP3-player device with at least a headphone output can feed any standard audio device that has a Line Level input (other than "PHONO") once the output is adapted to fit the input.

Best way to hook up Bose 901 series VI to a Harman Kardon HK3490

According to the HK site, "Stereo pre-amp outputs let you connect the receiver to an external power amplifier." So it's easy. Connect the Bose equalizer in the pre-out / amp in loop.

I'm trying to hook up a Carver HR-752 to Bose 901's series VI, I would like to use the preamp out and in on the back, do I need a seperate amp to use these? I have them going through the Tape

To setup the Bose 901's so that all of your connected equipment's sound (cable/dvd/games/stereo/etc) comes out of the 901's.
If you already have a receiver with front left and right pre-outs, I would add an amplifier. (other option is a pre-amp) Use the amplifier to create the loop the 901's need w/ their EQ and it will also add a cleaner sound and added power. That's how you can really make the Bose 901's sound amazing.

How do you hook up the Bose 901 series VI to a Harman Kardon AVR 510 receiver?

Search Fixya for the dozens of times I have answered this type of question. The central theme is you will need a separate power amp for the 901's and use of the Pre-Outs.

If your system is equipped with a tape monitor loop, you can switch the EQ out of the circuit by disengaging the tape monitor switch. If the EQ is connected to the pre-out / main-in jumper, you would have to defeat the EQ before you hook up a conventional speaker. I don't believe the EQ has a defeat switch - you'd have to rig a bypass.

Once defeated, if you have a system equipped with a Speaker A / Speaker B selector, the smaller speakers could hook up to the second system. If that's not possible, speaker switches are available for reasonable money. It is very important, though, that the 901 EQ i defeated when using conventional loudspeakers.

Not sure of how to wire these speakers ( internal ) Bose 901 series iv

Found on Google Search: "bose 901 internal wiring" You must first identify which series you have. The first two series were acoustic suspension, and used nine 8 ohm drivers in a series/paralel configuration. Series III through VI used nine .9 ohm drivers all wired in series. Series III and IV had an additional terminal for use only with the Bose Spacial Control Receiver. Series III through VI are easy to identify, as there are three ports sticking out the back of each enclose. The 1st two series have no ports.

Trying to hook up bose 901 v to sansui 8080db is

Just remove the Pre-Out to Main In jumpers and connect the Active Equalizer there. This way it will affect only the power output to the amp and speakers but not to any of the Tape Loops. If you need more, look around on Fixya for 901 advice and you'll find about a million posts by me for many scenarios, including multi-channel.
