Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

2 Answers

I have a sony wega tv. I can't seem to keep the tv turned on. I shut of the power supply over night and tried turning it on this morning but still no picture. I hear it turning on but turns immediately off. The standby button on the front of the tv is flashing. Any ideas?

I have already done what you have recommended. The TV will still not come on. Is there a reset button that can be pushed to reset the TV in the event it was turned off during timer or sleep mode?

We are trying to figure out what is going on with our Sony Wega TV. The model number is KD34XS955. We can hear the power turn on but it turns off within seconds. We unplugged it over night and plugged back in the am and still nothing. The standby button is flashing red.

There appears to be 7 flashing red lights on the error code.

Hi,
I can help you out, let me know how many times red standby light is flashing?
There would be 3 seconds interval between flashing so count it and post here to determine problem of tv, red standby light flashing is an error code that have info about defective section in tv.
Thanks.

There appears to be 7 flashing red lights on the error code.
    ============================================================

OK, 7 times standby red light flashing means "Horizontal Deflection Stopped"
Its technical term of problem mentioned in service manual that means it is hardware problem and few parts in horizontal deflection section in tv needs to be replaced by qualified tv tech as it is not user level repair or matter of reset button. (Sony tv does not have such button)
Let me know if you have additional question.
    Thanks.

A power surge may have gotten your tv into protection mode. Unplug the tv wait for 2 minutes and plug it back in. If problem persists let me know if you hear a clicking noise before the set goes into standby mode. The clicking noise confirms that the relay switches are kicking in and turning off the set and the power supply board of the tv should be inspected by a qualified tv tech.

No this is not as simple as that. However if you want to reset the relays you can push the power button and hold it for 10 seconds then attempt to power it again. But its unlikely that its gonna make any difference as I think they are some components on the power board that need to be replaced.

Well I told you what the problem is without beating around the bush. You may consult any number of experts but they are gonna tell you the same thing.

Sony Wega trinitron TV wont turn on..Keeps shutting off and standby flashes 7 times

Thank you for your question.

Fortunately this is a common symptom and there is a fix for it.

There are two power supply IC's and a capacitor that need to be change. In particular IC6501, IC8002, part number, Mcz3001db, and C6556, 33uF @ 160V.

Hi, that is probly a capacitor in the power supply section near the relay, he failed to keep it charged
whit a good capacitor tester wizard you must be able to find and check for cracked soldering around it or directly on the relays

I have a Sony Wega KV-34HS420 TV that takes several tries to turn on. When I push the power button or remote power on I hear the normal click and the sound comes on for 3-5 seconds but then I hear a second...

Since the set appears to "recover", it suggests either a poor solder connection or bad cap somewhere in the power supply. The 7 blinks indicate the problem circuit is in the horizontal area. Check the regulator (STRxxxx) IC in the power supply. If you do not have experience working with TVs, please refer this repair to a shop. The regulator IC costs around $25.

Sony Wega KDF-55E2000 won't turn on

A 5 blink code is a lamp power supply problem, but I would try a new lamp. I'd say about 90% of the time that fixes the problem.Get an ORIGINAL Sony lamp as the aftermarket replacements are ****. If you replace the lamp and still have the problem, you will need to have the lamp power supply/lamp ballast replaced

Most probably the IC504 (Sharp PQ05RD21) on A-Board went bad. This model TV, including mine, is notorious for having this problem. The IC is rather easy to find and inexpensive (around $2.50). Your main problem will be desoldering the old one and soldering the new one.

Good Luck.
