Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Ceiling fan replacement parts

I chose the category, "dryers", since there was no category for ceiling fans, even though this concerns two minka aire ceiling fans.  Looking for a parts supplier.   I installed two minka aire ceiling fans (white) on ceilings of two outdoor pergula that were recently damaged (one was demolished) by high winds. We need five (5) replacement blades, and a circular bracket to which the blades attach for one of the fans. I'll have to do a little research in our records to find the model number of the fans, but before doing so, just wanted to check to see if this is the sort of request on which I could get help through this site.

Not sure my comment was included when I clicked on "thanks for trying."   Appreciate the site referral.   It was just as I suspected.   The cost of all the needed parts was nearly as much as the cost of buying new fans.  Oh well ....

Here is the link for SOME parts for Minka Aire Fans. They don't necassarily need the model number, just the balde dimensions for replacement. Hope this helps you.

My dryer is rotating but no hot airflow

Hi - model of the dryer would be helpful as theres a few of them around & parts are not always compatible - however theres a few possiblities - the fan drive belt may be broken *pending on model some have separate drive belft for the exhaust fan - faulty or broken fan blade - thermostat open or a faulty over temp sensor - last but not the least a bad heater element../

without air flow even if element is ok there will be no heat available - basic cycle of operation of all dryers.

Good luck

I just repalced the vents since I moved the dryer from one room to another. The dryer works find but I am concerned about the white smoke emitting from the vent in the ceiling?

are you sure that it is smoke that you are seeing and not dust or drywall dust as you said you replaced the vents. It could be dust from the work you have done. Check to be sure it is actually SMOKE and not something else. If it is smoke do not run the dryer anymore until you have it accessed .

"does the neutral hook up to the element?"

Yes - the element requires a neutral (white wire) connection and is generally wired in parallel with the fan.

Dryer heats sometime but clothes do not dry well....vent pipes seem to be clear of lint up to dryer...blower doesn't come air blowing out of dryer...

thats the reason your clothes aren't dry.Have to have air moving through tub. Check fan motor probably a thermal overheat fuse that has blown or if motor is turning, look at the fan and see if it has a set screw or retaining ring that holds it on the shaft or both fan may not be turning with the shaft. More than likely though the blower motor overheated or just plain worn out.

Takes the dryer over two hours to dry one load of laundry. It appears to be putting out hot air. When I stop it to check the clothes, the clothes are usually really warm yet still wet. This has been going...

You have a venting problem. Some makes of condo size dryers have a lint screen inside the drum at the back. Check and clean. If not then there might be a screen in the wall or the ceiling of the room the dryer is in. Trace the vent from the dryer to the wall or ceiling. There should be a vent fan in the ceiling. Try asking the condo property management if there is an exhaust fan in the wall that needs cleaning.

Dryer heats and turns but no air out the exhaust it is not pluged though

Check the lint screen first. If no luck there, it's possible that the fan discharge itself at the bottom of the dryer is plugged or that there is a problem with the exhaust fan itself. You may have to remove the back of the dryer and check the discharge pipe from the fan back to the fan unit. Turn off the gas first before you pull the dryer out and unplug the dryer.

Dryer venting

Yes you can but make sure it is secured well. Remember, the vent will be putting moist hot air in the attic if it is not secured.
