Corrupt MYOB data file

As a result of a hard disk failure Our MYOB 14 .dat file is crashing. We suspect a corrupt entry in the database. The file will open but as soon as we trying to do anything the program closes and produces the following error: MYOB must terminate. Termination Code 1284 Important Details: Error -3000 in DMGTEKey (5037:7000:69) Seems to be the same error every time. We have tried running MYOB's Verify and Optimise tools with no luck. Each time either tool is run the program crashes and displays the error: An error occurred while attempting to compact the database. DM Error = (-3000-5049-7000-158) Restoring from a backup is not an option as last backup was 3 months ago. So looking for solutions to fix the current file please. Will not be satisfied if the solution is to take it to MYOB. Need someone who can actually dig around inside the file and correct the errors. Thanks

These corruptions are usually caused by power interruptions (esp over a network). MYOB was unable to complete recording the full transaction in the company file.

Have a look here, these guys may be able to help http://www.fghtables.com/MYOB/repair.php

System restore will not restore any data files, only system files.
Databases normally need periodic sorting as their indexes get corrupted. I don't use any microripoffsoft stuff, only Open Office and iMac. Try reindexing your file with Open Office

I need to perform access database repair

The repair method attempts to recover only the tables, indexes and queries in the database. Do not attempt to repair damaged forms, reports, macros and modules. Before executing the Compact and Repair tool, please ensure the following condition:

1. Do not Open Access database must closed
2. Sufficient storage space available - minimum double in size of your Access database on that Disk.
3. Close the .mdb file related to .ldb file before you delete the .ldb file.
4. Then Run the Compact and Repair tool

Open your SQL Server Management Studio console. This application shortcut is available in the SQL Server directory in the Windows Start button.
· Enter the system administrator user name and password. SQL Server's administrator user name is "sa." This account is required for privileges to restore the database. If your restoring on a host provider server, use the administrator user name and password they supplied for your account.
·Right-click your database name and select "Attach." In the new window that opens, click the "Add" button to open a dialog box.
·Select your MDF file and press the "Ok" button. It may take several minutes to restore the database if it is a large file. Once the process is finished, browse your tables to verify the data. The database is now restored.

MYOB suggestions
It appears that you have a corruption in the data file. This can only be corrected by the technical support team at MYOB. You will need to give them a call. At this time of year you could be on hold for quite some time. From memory a repair of a file is an additional cost to your MYOB subscription.

Another alternative would be to restore a previous backup and ensure that the backup does not have the same error and reenter the missing data.
