Jenn-Air Dishwasher smell

We bought a JDB1105 in Nov. 09. It smelled a little strange even when it was new but we thought it was just a new rubber and plastic smell. After a while we had a teck out and he checked that it was installed correctly and was draining. The teck ran a cleaner through it. The smell is really bad at times so I know there must be something not right. Can you give me some ideas? Thanks, Don

SOURCE: Loud Humming noise every time we run the dishwasher

Hi, I had this exact same problem. In my situation it turned out to be the pump that pumps out all of the used water. It was rubbing up against the floor so that every time it turned on it made a loud vibrating sound. I just reached under the washer and put a piece of rubber between it and the floor and it solved the problem.

good luck!

I saw this post because I am considering buying the same model you have. Other than the noise problem you have, what do you think of it?

SOURCE: Jenn Air dishwasher leaking

the emptying valve is underneath in the middle normally and it is what the drain hose connects to on the dishwasher. The drain hose itself is connecting with either a c clamp or hose clamp, check to make sure it is tightened all the way. Also do you have an idea of what part of the dishwasher the leak is coming from? If it is not the drain valve, then check to make sure it is not leaking from the door itself, as the door just has a rubber gasket that seals it and it might be that the gasket is bad. If it's not the door and not the drain valve, it could then be coming from the drainage pump or the motor for the dishwasher, which means the seal is broken and the motor or pump would need replaced. If you are unsure of how to do so then i would contact a repair technician to fix it for you.

SOURCE: Jenn Air dishwasher door won't close

It could be as simple as the mounting tabs being too tight up against the bottom of the countertop. You might need to loosen the 2 screws that hold the dishwasher in place against the underside of the countertop, until the latch and strike plate engage.

It might be that the countertop is interferring with the latch or that the door edge doesn't have enough clearance to properly close and engage the latching tab.

If you can't get the latch to engage, it might be that it got bent slightly in the removal and reinstallation. A simple way to confirm this would be to pull the dishwasher out about 4-6" from the cabinet and see if the catch and latching tab line up and engage. If they do, then you need to make sure there is enough clearance around the cabinet edges and at the underside of the countertop. If it doesn't engage, then it is more likely that the tab (male part) needs to be adjusted slightly to allow for proper engagement. Make small adjustments (bending carefully up or down until it goes into the latch without binding.

You should be able to get this lined up with a little effort and have things working again.

Hope you found this Very Helpful and best regards!

Smell vacuum

If it is a rubber smell it's likely a belt. If it is an electrical smell it could be one of the two motors going bad. Those units see half the world before you get them it's possibly bad from the factory. This happens fairly often. You likely bought it from a private dealer take it back and see what they say? It shouldn't smell bad right out of the box. Here's a little more reading if you need to know more.

Good Luck!

Slimy mold in rubber seal

Hi, Just dry the seal after a wash and leave the door open just a little. Leaving the door cracked will also help with the smell allowing air to circulate through the machine. ALL front loads have this problem with mold and that strange smell.

Ice tastes funny and a strange metallic or plastic type smell

Sometimes the smell comes from something in the freezer or even the refrigeratior and makes the ice taste funny. My suggestion is to clean out the freezer compartment of anything frozen that has been there a while and may have freezer burn. That may be the funny smell you are experiencing.
Hope this will help you.

Foul odor

first hting do you use a rinse agent( jet dry ?) perhaps s you're not selecting heated dry as an far as the smell if its musty form water left behind, using jet dry will evaporate more of the water (a small amount on a paper towel and wipe down the inner door and walls will also decrease moisture, doenst to be done every time either on ly as needed might be once a year. if the smell is anything else id look into perhaps hoked to a garbage disposer?? smells permeate back into d/w.

New danby kegerator - tastes like rubber hose

There is a check valve inside the coupler of the danby kegs that cause this problem. The valve is mainly there to prevent beer from back-flowing when changing the keg. Next time you change your keg check for a little black plastic retainer and also a small white plastic ball inside the coupler. Remove those (or just smell it) and you should notice that this is the taste/smell your beer has. I removed mine after this discovery, and there isn't any issues with the taste/smell since. I've heard this is a common issue with the Danby D coupler systems. Also, you won't have any issues with beer backflow when you change the keg, provided the line going to the tap is empty (which usually is if keg is kicked).
