Question about Televison & Video
Magnavox 50'' plasma tv. model 50MF23ID/37 won't turn on.
I turn the tv on a greenlight comes on, after a few seconds a click and then a blinking red light. Unplug the power cord red light blinks several times then a green light, then it goes off, I plug the cord back in and a green light comes on and then goes off, I push the on button and start the process over 3 to ten times before the tv will come on and then wait for picture to come on after about 20 to 30 seconds. what could or would be wrong? Thank you

i have the same problem but i play with it by pluging it in multiple times and i hear it click on then off eventually the time between it clicks on then off is longer until i finally get it to stay on .I have to do that everytime i use it . Also the update wont work for me either tried everything. It must be with the power supply becuse once i get it on it stays on, and if i turn it off after its been working for a while it comes right back on perfectly. Only when i leave it off for a few minutes the symptoms start right over. This is what i do for about 5 minutes of plugging it in and out it flicks on and then off about 2 seconds later after that ii finally get it to flck on then off about 6 seconds later. 5 more minutes of pluging it in and out it takes about 10 seconds to flick off this is when i know it is about to work.finnally the green light will stay on and the tv wont flick off you can turn it on and of with the button wait 2 min to see if the picturecomes on repeat last step until it works. This means everything works great exept for the power supply for enitial startup. I beleive its a capacitor . I will check and report back.

Here is the solution. For less that 100$ your Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 will be running like a champ.
Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 screen has no picture. There is no sound, TV comes on and then after a few seconds clicks and screen remains blank.
On the main power circuit board to Capacitors are prone to failure from over load. The caps are 3300uf 10v 105+c capacitors located to the left of the AC power input.
Magnavox will refer you to a service center. They will advise $$$ for an inspection. They will also want to charge upwards of 500$ to replace the entire board.
1. Unplug your TV
2. Disconnect all connections from your TV
3. With assistance lay your TV on its face on a non-scratching service
4. Remove the back panel screws.
5. Lift back panel off
6. The central board is your main power board.
7. Remove all wire harnesses from the main board.
8. Remove all screws that are holding the main board in place.
9. Lift the main board out and carefully place it into a non electromagnetic pouch.
10. Take the board to a Circuit Board repair shop.
11. Have them replace the the above mentioned Caps.
12. Re-install the board in your TV.
NOTE: Replace the caps with 3300uf 16v 105+ high temp caps(preferrably Japanese caps)
This fix cost me 80$ and my time to search for other who had the same issue. Try searching for Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 bad circuit board or Magnavox Plasma TV bad capacitors or Magnavox Plasma TV bad ciruit board.
Hope this all help, Magnavox is should take ownership for this problem and recall any tv's that have these caps in them. The worst part about this is that teh **** from the repair center that was paid 100$ to check the TV, stripped out the screw holes and damaged the case for the TV.
Portland Laptop Repair was awesome. They repaired the board and it looked like new. Check them out at http://www.laptopportland.com/

Commonly it's going to be a power supply related problem. The two boards that need to be looked at is the Main Power Supply Board or the power supply board for the screen. The one that powers the screen, some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
If you have some electronic experience, you can sometimes find a Service Manual for the TV over the internet for less than $20. It will have the all resource material for repairing your TV model. It's just the matter of replacing the bad part on the circuit board.
