Question about Uniden DXI5586-2 Cordless Phone

All 3 handsets make loud interfernce humming and crackling

We have the 3 handset version of the 5.8ghz... about 2 weeks ago, HS2 started making a really loud interference humming and crackling when you pressed CALL. Within 1 week, both the other 2 handsets started doing the same. Now we can't answer or call out from any of these 3 without this noise. It's so loud, we can;t even hear anyone on the other end.

Any idea what would cause this in all 3 at roughly the same time?

Thanks,
Adam

Really bad crackling sound on certain calls

if only happens on certain calls it could either be the handset itself, a week point on all corded phones is the cable between the handset and the body of the phone. whilst talking to someone on a call wiggle the cord where it enters the handset, does it crackle if not do the same where the cord enters the phone body, if no crackle likely not phone.

next select a line if you have more than 1 line note which 1 and dial 17070. this will BT autotest the line. if more than 1 line on system do same for all lines. check with your system admin if there are quick codes to select individual lines, eg dial 9 for any line or 81 for line 1 82 for line 2 etc .

if you get crackle still on 1 of the lines get your maintainer to check the lione at the cable head where lines enter building

How do i forward my phone calls

HOPE THIS HELPS:
Call Forward • The first handset (HS1) can forward an external call to another handset (HS2, HS3, or HS4) by pressing and holding the INTERCOM key. After entering the handset number to which you want to forward the call, HS1 will display CALL FORWARDED. • To answer the call, another system handset can press PHONE, SPEAKER or any dial pad keys.
NOTE: If the other HS2 does not respond within 30 seconds, the external call will be returned to HS1 and its display will show CALL BACK. If the returned call is not answered within 30 seconds, the external call will end automatically

About a week ago we purchased a new cordless phone with a second handset for upstairs. It is a Uniden Dect 6.0. Without warning the 2nd handset's buttons ceased to function. It still receives signal but...

Try putting the 2nd handset in the base station for a few minutes. Sometimes this helps it reset.
Alternatively, just switch the handsets and see if that works.

THE PHONE LINES ARE ARE MAKING A CRACKLING SOUND, WHICH SOMETIMES MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO HEAR WHAT IS BEING SAID

Crackling and buzz can come from a few different sources. I need a few more details. Is it on all phones? Is it on all lines of all phones? Does your caller hear the crackling too?

If it's in just one phone then switch out the handset & cord to see if the problem stays with the phone or the handset. You may just need a new hand set cord.

If it's in more than one phone then the problem will need some more testing.

Clicking on handsets, loss of signal strength.

We decided to remove each handset, one at a time, from the system to see if we could determine if any of them were defective and maybe the cause of our problems. We took handset #1 and removed its battery. We continued to have the clicking and other noise. We put the battery back in handset #1 and removed the battery of handset #2. Immediately we noticed we did not experience the noise and clicking problems. We have concluded that handset #2 is defective. To verify we will keep handset #2 out of service for a week. At the end of a week we will reinstall the battery and if we have noise and clicking we have verified handset #2 is defective, the cause of our noise and clicking and needs to be replaced. Just to be on the safe side we will continue testing each additional handset to verify if any others are defective.

Handset Won't Connect to Base Station

Here's is the fix, I just had the same problem.

I have 2 handsets here and just had replaced in 1 of the handsets.

Here's the trick, make sure the correct handset is in the correct base. The way this is done is when one of the handsets are in their bases, they will show either HS1 or HS2 in the upper right hand part of the display.

When they are in the correct base, then go push the Find HS button on the main base and you will hear the page feature paging the other base.

When the 2nd handset starts beeping just push the Find HS button again and other handset should work.

After that it don't matter which handset is in which base.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks,
Brian
