Question about D-Link DIR-615 Router

Internet connection cutting out intermitently

I lose my internet connection about 1 to 2 times a day. usually have to reset my modem and DIR 615 to get it back, then it works for a day or two then goes out again. I have by-passed router and modem works fine

1. check the current firmware updates
2. verify no other devices next the the router interfering with the signal i.e. cell phones, cordless phone, microwaves, TV sets.
3. check your router or cable modem for connection during time the wireless is dropping connectivity.

Can't get internet to work with dir-615 router for more than a day or two at a time


If you have more than one device hooked up to the router, when the problem occurs try pinging another device. If you are able to then the router is working fine and most likely the modem is flaky and needs to be replaced. The modem supplies the internet connection, the router just applies NAT so that more than one device and use your public IP address. If this turns out to be the issue make sure you contact your ISP for any special instructions. For instances Comcast requires the MAC address located on the bottom or back of the modem in order for your connection to work, other ISP use proxy settings. Century Link has no requirements.

locate the reset button on your router then push it gently hold for 10- 15 sec. then connect it back to the modem

I have followed instructions (several times) to connect my dlink router dir-615 and once I unplug the ethernet cable and attach to dlink (blue slot 1) and plug in power to the router....it no longer can...


the blue socket should be connected to your modem, it is this modem that supplies the internet for your router to distribute to your computers so if you disconnect the blue cable from your router you are disconnecting the internet

do a factory reset - theres a reset button button on the back hold that for 30secs until the device resets

D-Link DIR-615 wireless modem, unknown password


You need to connect the modem to your computer via the cat-5 cable.
To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear of the unit. With the router power on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait for 30 seconds to access the router. The default address is 192.168.0.1 when logging in, the username is "admin" and leave the password box empty.

Problem for D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router, Orange Power Light


I have had multiple problems with these routers. They tend to drop signals or have other issues that are hard to explain in a few short sentences.
After you rebooted did you open your browser and type in the IP address to connect to the router software?

DIR-615 will not connect to internet. Followed step by step... doesnt recognize the internet connection... but I can wire in to the connection.


hii, i had the same problem, if you have a gateway (modem) you can join them together and turn the modem on and wait for it to finish starting then turn your dir-615 on, and you shouldnt even have to configure it, it should just work, it did for me.

DIR-615 D-Link Router Problems...!


Try to reset the router first by pressing the reset button at the back of the router for 20 seconds then power cycle it by unplugging the power for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Here's how to set it up

1. You don't need to use the setup CD that came with it.
2. Make sure you have the proper physical connection
3. From your modem, connect the ethernet to the Internet/WAN port of the Dlink, then your computer to port # 1.
4. Do a power cycle. Unplug power to router and modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Power on the modem first, wait for all the lights to steady then power on the router. You should be all set

cannnot connect to dlink. any ideas? OK, so here is the deal: about 6 months ago I purchased a brand new laptop and connected it to my DLink router that has been working on our PC for about 3 years now. I also have 2 Playstations and 2 other laptops connected to the D Link (all of which are working fine and NEVER have any problems whatsoever). About 3 weeks ago, I turned my laptop on and tried going online, but much to my surprise, it couldnt connect. Its supposed to automatically connect, but this time it didnt. I figured I would manually connect it. I opened up the window that displays all the routers that the laptop is picking up and i saw my D Link so I try to connect. It attempts, then says "connected" and the after 3 seconds or so, it says "Limited Access". I thought it was a problem with the internet so I checked the other laptops in the house and the Playstation and they are all working fine. I figured it was my laptop so I shut it off and restarted it but it did not work. Next, I tried unplugging the router and waited for 2 minutes or so and plugged it back in. Yay! It worked! I solved the problem! I began surfing the internet for a couple hours when, BAM! It suddenly went out again. I figured I would unplug the router once again to see if it was just some kind of glitch and would work fine this time. I unplug it and repeat the process over again. after 2 hours, it goes out. Everything else in this house seems to be working just fine on the router with no problems whatsoever, except mine. I have not messed with any of the configurations because I have not idea where to even begin so I know it cant be with the configurations. My laptop is new with windows 7, I'm using xfinity as a provider. Side note- I did a test and when I cant connect to the internet with my laptop it fails a "PING" test (no idea what that is), but when I unplug and plug up the router and the internet is fine on the laptop, it will pass the "PING" test. I'm completely clueless about all this, I really hope someone can help. If you have any questions, any at all that might help you diagnose the problem, please ask and I'll try to answer as quickly as possible, I really need this problem fixed. Its horrible having to reset the router every 2 to 4 hours. Recap: New laptop with windows 7, all other laptops and PS3's work just fine even when MY laptop isnt, fails "PING" test when it cant connect to internet, passes "PING" test when it can connect to internet, unplugging the router and plugging it back in will give me internet for a few hours, when laptop cant connect it says "LIMITED ACCESS". any ideas? Thanks to all who help. P.S. Like I have mentioned before, I'm a complete newb and dont really understand too much of the lingo, please break it down barney style for me. Thanks again.
