My Dell 4500 will not Load Windows XP

I have a Dell Dimension 4500 Desktop Computer. It boots up but will not load Windows. Instead, I get a message saying all processes have been stopped to protect my computer. I am wondering how I can get past this so I can load Windows and use my computer. Any Suggestions?

Thanks iqbal. Windows does try to put up drivers but the blue screen message still appears. It does not let me go to Safe Mode or directly into Windows

Same problem, but even trying Safe Mode windows won't restart. Tried installing windows disk at boot-up on CD and just freezes when trying to start set-up on Windows. Ran Dell system diag disk and all hardware devices PASS. This thing would not even let run the Recovery Console.

    Puzzling *sigh*.

I have a dell to it's the 4700. My computer boots but goes straight to a black screen. I've run all tests from the Dell promppromp. F8, F12 and I think the other is F2. All tests say my computer is running good. I tried calling Dell for help but sense my ex boyfriend bought it and I don't remember where he bought it they will not help me. Does any one know what could be wrong. It was working good for 3 years then all of a sudden it goes to black screen.

Most problems like this is called blue screen by Microsoft. I suggest try to remove your memory and clean it specially the connectors. Connectors are normally cleaned using pencil eraser. If you have more than one Memory, try cleaning both and install and test one at a time. Normally not both memory get damaged at the same time. If it boots up on both memory try putting them again and check but if problem persist then I suggest install one at a time again and run memory test software which you can download free from Microsoft website.

hope this helps.

You have got some currepted driver/software that makes windows conflicts and its cause FETAL error thats why the booting stops.

To fix the problem remember the last change which you have made in software/hardware.

Power on and press F8 buttun again and again till the widows boot menu appears. Then select the Safe Mode option. Window will try to boot your system with optimum load of drivers.

After boot goto the Add/Remove in control panel and remove the software which you have lastly installed. then make reboot.

Thanks
Iqbal

Dell dimension e310 desktop error message unmountable boot volu me

> unmountable

The disk-drive cannot be "mounted", i.e., the motherboard cannot access it

> boot volume

To "boot" a computer is to load a small "loader" program from the disk-drive;
that program "pulls-up-by-the-boot-straps", to read the rest of Windows from the disk-drive.

If the disk-drive has "failed", then you'll get messages like the one that you reported.

Replace the disk-drive.

My computer starts to load and when it gets to the blue windows xp screen it stops and does not load into windows.

Turn off your computer by holding down the power button (10 sec.)
Turn the computer back on and Hold down the F8 button at the top of your keyboard, until the start up menu shows, Then select "Last known Configuration that worked"
If that does work you can repeat the steps and try system restore if you have it enabled.
If still unable to load you would need service, or to reinstall windows

How can I boot Windows XP from my USB Disk drive on my DELL Dimension 4500 computer ?

Hello,
When you have switched on your PC, strike F2 several times or DEL to enter to your Bios set up. As sson as you're in, set boot rpiority to USB Disk drive as your priority boot sector instead of Hard Disk drive.
If you don't have CDROM player/drive, you can use USB as priority boot but you may have another installer for reformatting via USB.
Blessings.

DELL DIMENSION 2400 ERROR STOP: 0x00000024, (0x00100203,0X82F898

You seem to have an error in the boot sequence of the Operating system. If you are unable to access the safte mode of the OS, then you will have to do a hard boot (boot from disk). My suggestion is seeing that you have a Dell, many times they will give you a boot disk or charge you $10 for one to be sent to you. Boot disks are not expensive at all.

Once you recieve the boot disk, go into the BIOS and change the boot sequence that it boots from your CD/DVD drive first instead of your hard drive (C). Then restart the computer with the disk in the disk drive and it will load from the disk.

If that does not work, you will have to do a reimage. For that you will need a Windows OS CD (XP, Vista - whatever OS you use). From there you can either have your data slaved over to another drive prior to reimaging, or if you dont mind loosing the data, just push in the Windows OS CD and it will ask if you want to over write or reimage, answer yes, and it will begin to wipe your computer and place a brand new copy of the OS on there.

Dell Dimension Startup

try going into your BIOS and changing the boot sequence, it may be set to boot from floppy instead of harddrive. or you could just reinstall windows, but that sucks cuz then you lose all your data and programs. and not to be rude, but you shouldnt have bought a dell, they are full of problems.
