Dish washer won't fill with water

We were having problems with blocked drains and the waste from the sink kept filling up the bottom of the dishwasher and the water from the washing machine was also coming back. Drains unblocked yesterday and whilst water is now going the right way, no water is coming into the dishwasher.

SOURCE: dishwasher does nor drain. Small residue of water

If its not the drain hose, you might need a valve or if you have a new garbage disposal you need to punch out a peice of the plastic or it wont drain. Hope this helped, good luck

SOURCE: my De Dietrich is not filling with water - pipe is

Yes, lots of ideas. You need to disconnect the water line where it attaches to the dishwasher valve and see if water is flowing. If it flows, then you either have a clogged inlet valve (there is a screen inside the valve that catches debri from the water line) that could of happen from a disturbance of the water service orthe valve is old and lost its ability to open upon signalling, or the timer is not sending the signal to open the valve, or the water level (float) switch is stuck and not allowing the signal to get to the valve.

SOURCE: Water won't drain and then dishwasher won't turn on

It is possible that themachine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback fromthe inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller mustinitiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to workwhen it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at thesepoints must be checked or the faultrelates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is asuspect.Check howto remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html If thewater flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or thereis dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Whatis most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switchmust be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting themotor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to begood. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turnaround to inject with pressure. If sothe pump must be checked for clogging. To replacecheck this link:http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1293/how-to-replace-the-spraying-system-on-a-dishw.html Finallyafter the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to comein to rinse and then finally the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain offall the water.Make surethat a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so checkthe command from the program module and then the executing device be it thevalve or motor or pump. Electrolux dishwasher overflows

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?

Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!

Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.

The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwasher.

Had blocked drain so water from sink backed up into d.washer. Drain clear but d.washer keeps emptying and won't fill

Make sure drain hose from dishwasher is higher than water inlet if not it will do just like a washing machine if the drain hose is lower than water level it will empty while filling.

FDW60 has standing water in the bottom and will not fill up

You most likely have a stubborn clog in your kitchen drain. Try filling the sinks with warm soapy water and then letting the water drain while also turning on your garbage disposal. Sometimes the extra water pressure will help push the clog through.

Water won't drain from my hot point dishwasher

Your drain/waste line under the sink is clogged with grease and soap scum.
Remove the P-trap and connecting drain lines, route out the drain and lines.
If you have a air gap mounted on the sink, clean that too.

Our dishwasher was gushing water after a cycle

If you dish washer pumped or drained water up into you sink then you drain line from the sink or even further down is clugged up, Machine out drain line. A drip sized cable machine can be rented. I recomend a 1/4 inch line. You will only have to go frim the sink to the main line.
