Question about Dell OptiPlex GX400 (2090246019) PC Desktop
Fix registry errors: cleaning up the Windows registry is usually the most effective solution, because the majority of computer problems are related to the registry.
I would recommend you try this cleaner http://www.keep-pc-clean.com/

Sorry about the problem.
I will try as much as possible to give you a detailed steps you can try out.
And they are going to be in two Options.
First options is this:
Put on your Computer,
While it is booting, Keep tapping the F8 Key, and this will bring up the Menu where you will have to
select the different options of booting.
Try booting into safe mode.
If it boots in Safe Mode, then do these:
First, open my computer,
right-click on your hard drive, and select properties,
then select tools tab, then under the tools tab, you should see error-checking,
then click on "Check Now", then select the tabs under this and click on start.
It will tell you that it will be done at the next system restart, so click on OK, and restart your system.
Next, Defragment your hard Drive, by going to Start--->All Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->Disk Defragmenter.
All these things are going to take you a lot of time to finish but I'll tell you the truth...they are worth it.
After all these, you can now (optionally) improve the performance of your system by going to this place :
Right-Click on my computer, Properties, then Click on Advanced, then under the performance tab,
click on settings,
and select 'adjust for best performance'.
This will change the appearance of your system and significantly increase your system speed.
If it doesn't boot into Safe mode, then go to this next one:
Select Safe mode Command prompt.
When you get to command prompt, type: chkdsk or chkdsk /f (note the Space before the /f), and press enter.
This will scan your system for errors and correct it.
In case it is as a result of a hardware problem, try this:
Get a screwdriver, unscrew your laptop at the back where you have a symbol of RAM(Memory) drawn,
If you can't do it by yourself let a technician do it for you.
Remove all your RAM(Memory Sticks), and clean the tip of the connector with an eraser, and re-insert it one after the other.
That is, if you have two of them, after you insert the first one, put on your system and see if it works, then do the same thing with the other one.
if the two of them works, them insert the them all.
but if it is just one that worked, just remove the other one that is not working and replace it.
If Trying All these does not work, then Go to this next option.
If you have a Windows Installations CD.
Insert it into your CDROM Drive, then when you put on your system,
Go into the system BIOS/Setup by pressing 'Del' key or any other key (e.g F10 for HP PCs) required to enter setup while the system is booting.
Now look for where you have Boot Sequence or Boot Order.
Select the CDROM to be the one where the system will boot from,
then follow the On-Screen instruction and select repair.
(Which means you will have to get a Windows Installation CD.)
All these are the FULL trouble-shooting steps you will need to get your system working.
But if after trying all of them out it still does not work,
Then you will have to take the system to a good technician.
Kindly keep me posted and let me know how it goes.
Thank you for using FixYa.
