The coils should get a coat of "frost" but not ice.
If there is ice that soon - check the door seals to be sure they are sealing out humid air properly... and also the defrost timer may be faulty. It may not giving the evaporator (radiator behind the panel) enough time to melt the frost... or not shutting down at all.
Your fridge has an adaptive defrost - which means it is electronically controlled.
CLICK HERE to see/purchase a new defrost board.
CLICK HERE to see/purchase the defrost heater assrmbly if the adaptive defroster IS in fact sending out the proper voltage - the heater may be burned out.
Some basic troubleshooting and electrical knowledge is required to test these parts.
Thanks!!
There are refrigerators that have a mechanical defros timer - and some with electric (adaptive defrost timer).
In your case it is electric, and only have the board. Sorry if my original post was confusing. i was giving the cause for all refrigerators (in general) and then specified your was electric.
Thanks!!

My 8.5 year old MZD2766GEQ has been working fine now for a couple of weeks, but I'm still not confident that my problems are over. Two weeks ago I experienced my fridge side getting 'not so cold' and made several inquiries to find a resolution. I took the back panels off rear wall from inside the freezer and the radiator looking park was encased in frost/ice. I took a hairdryer and melted everything off, then kept the doors open overnight. The next day I plugged it back in and by dinner time, things seem to be working fine. Curiosity got the best of me because I've read so many reports/problems/solutions on this website. I took the panels off the inside back wall of the freezer, and with disapointment found frost beginning to build again. Is this headed for a repeat of solid ice build-up? Like I said, things are working fine now, but is that radiator looking part suppose to remain clean and frost-free? Please tell me what I should do at this point. Thanks!
Is the defrost timer and defrost board 2 different things? Thanks for your expertise!
so is the defrost board and defrost timer the same thing? Thanks!
Thank you for your expertise! I feel much better moving forward with any issues that may present itself.
