    Hello Sanguine

Thanks for your response but alas the suggestions did not solve the problem. However with a lot more time and fiddling with the parameters and then by selecting 'plain paper' and not a glossy all was solved.

Hope that this may help you.

    Regards

    Andy

1. Please check the software settings and ink settings of the printer. In oder to check the software settings check the driver(software) installed on the computer. 2.Clean the print head. 3.The photo cartridge might be old or low on ink. So, you can replace the cartridge and then try to print. 4.Colors might change after drying your photos. Wait for 24 hours and check your photos. 5,If you are printing without the computer, please check the printer LCD screen settings and make sure that Filter settings is not set to Sepia or Black and White.

When you say copy, I assume you mean scan copy. Check your scan settings. Change it to DPI of 75 and monochrome. See if the purple is present. Also make sure the contrast is set to default.
What I dislike is sometimes manufacturers use color ink when you want to print black. It causes you to replace your color more often. To me it is dishonest. Anyway, try the scan settings.

Printer will not print brown. Comes out redish purple.

It is a common problem for colors to come out in unusual hues when the print cartridges are empty of one or more colors.

You still have some clogged heads.Head cleaning once is sometimes not enough to clean your heads properly, especially if you are using 'compatible' ink cartridges. You need to clean your heads again, and possibly still again, until your test print pattern produces the correct colours.

Does the c7280 use seperate Magenta and PhotoMagenta cartridges? If so make certain the right cartridge is in the correct slot.

Issue: Tinted printing / Colors are not exact
Solution: Disable Monochrome Effects in the printer driver (Windows)

Disable Monochrome Effects When Monochrome Effects is enabled from the Effects section of the printer's Properties/Preferences, the printed image will have a definite color hue. Follow the steps below to disable Monochrome Effects.
  1. On the Windows desktop, click 'Start', point to 'Settings', then click 'Printers' (Windows XP: On the Start menu, click 'Printers and Faxes').

  2. Windows 2000/XP: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Printing Preferences'. Windows 98/Me: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Properties'.

  3. On the Effects tab, click on the 'Monochrome Effects' check-box to remove the check-mark.

  4. Click the 'OK' button at the bottom to save the setting.

Greyscale printing

You may well be on the right track Certainly nothing to do with the printer as such It will only squirt the inks it is told to. So check the printer software[drivers] for starters- Is it possible you have the latest -check makers web site. This may also apply to your graphics card/image editor. Do ensure all the latest[current drivers and patches] are loaded. For example I Paint Shop Pro- Coral will sent updates from time to time some of which seem to be almost as big as the original program. If I have occasion to reinstall or repair the prog- I must always remember to reload the updates.
