Question about Philips 32MF605W Television
I had the same problem caused by a power surge. Removed the back cover (kind of a pain in the *** because it's a tight fit) then removed the metal cover over the circuit boards. There were three 1000uf 35vdc capacitors on the Left board capacitors 2074, 2079 and 2080, that had bulged out tops. Replaced those with the same capacitor from radioshack (p/n: 272-1032 stock at most radioshacks)for $3 and the tv works fine. During this I also noted that the plug right next to the power switch down by the face was loose, pressed that in and everything is kosher...good luck

TURN TV OFF WITHP OWER BUTTON. THENTURN ON WITH REMOTE. MINE DOES SAME THING. ALWAYS USE REMOTE TO POWER ON AND OFF
