PS3 sound problem

I have my 80g PS3 hooked up with the fiber cable to my JVC 7.1 RX-D411s receiver. When I watch movies or blue ray dics i have no problems with the sound. However, when I play music or music video's I get really bad sound. Do you have any thoughts on this problem?

Can you tell me how to allocate different properties for different types of playback? Also if I reset the console does it change my video from HDMI to basic? Just need to know in case I can't see my screen.

Check your settings, you can allocate different properties for different types of playback. DVD MUSIC GAME etc. If youve tried this and got a bit lost you can reset the console and this will return all settings to basic,

How to connect the PS3 to RX-V365 to get best sound qualitity in films. I have sony BRAVIO LCD wiht PS3 and I recently bought RX-V365 Yamaha home theater system. Please advice on connecting all three to...

You can connect PS3 video via HDMI to receiver and from receiver via HDMI to TV. But RX-V365 doesn't support HDMI audio, so you have to connect audio separately via SPDIF digital cable. I think PS3 uses optical SPDIF, so you will need optical cable. If you can't find cheaps optical cables in your shop, you can try byuing from ebay ($1-5 max.)

I have an RX-V663 audio sounds flat

Let's deal with the turntable sound first - unless it's a self-preamplified model you would have to get an external phono-specific preamp to use with this receiver. Without one you'll get microscopically weak, tinny sound from the turntable. Google "RIAA curve" to see why.

As far as the CD sound through the Blu Ray player... for one thing it is flat, as in two-dimensional stereo. Compared to genuine surround from a movie it would be a letdown.

Can you better define 'flat'?

Yamaha rx-v365 plugged in the hdmi from cable box

You have to configure your DTV input to use optical audio instead of analog dtv audio (red/white plugs). Input assignment should be described in the manual. Come back to me if you have still problems with it.

PS3 80g only plays DVDs and PS2 games .... help

The reason why DVDS still work and the blu-rays don't is because it's a three part laser. dvd / cd / blu-ray.

The blu-ray portion almost always goes out first.

PS3 with this receiver.

I dont know your reciver but if it has a hdmi input plug ps3 into it and set audio on ps3 to pcm, this will give you digital surround eg multichannel,if not you must use a optical cable from ps3 to reciver and set ps3 audio to digital.
hope this helps.

Audio problem when connecting to a PS3

It seems the Denon and PS3 don't play nice together on DTS. If you take off the DTS setting, then the PS3 will use DD and you'll get surround for games and movies.
