SOURCE: IP address Problem when connecting to xbox 360 live

i had the same problem buddy. The problem might be that you hacve another system on the wireless network that uses that same IP address. This can cause a conflict that will prevent the xbox from logging on. Try deactivating other systems on the network to see if thats the problem

If your wireless controller does not turn on or loses power, try the following solutions:
Solution 1: Replace the batteries
Insert a new set of AA alkaline batteries into the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, and then try to turn it on.
Solution 2: Try a different battery pack
If you have another Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, take the battery pack off that controller and attach it to your controller. Then try to turn your controller on.
If your controller works with the different battery pack, your original battery pack might be defective. If your controller is under warranty, you can order a replacement battery pack from Xbox Support . See the Assistance section at the bottom of this page for more information.
If your controller is out of warranty, you can buy a new battery pack from a retail store.
Solution 3: Try a rechargeable battery packIf you or a friend has an Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack, attach that battery pack to your controller and try to use your controller. If your controller works with the rechargeable battery pack attached, you can buy a new battery pack from a retail store or order a replacement battery pack from Xbox Support. Setup your Xbox to a Wireless Network

Xbox game consoles can be connected <span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> to a router<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/routers/g/bldef_router.htm"></a> for wireless access to the Internet and Xbox Live. Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network.<br /><br /> <ol> <li>Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwarenetworkgear/g/bldef_adapter.htm"></a> to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet sometimes also called a wireless network bridge must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi <i>game adapters</i> that connect to a USB port.<br /><br /></li> <li>Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Advanced -&gt; Wireless -&gt; Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Edit Settings."<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Depends if you have an Xbox Elite or an older Xbox 360?
If you have an Xbox Elite then there will be an in- built wireless, For older xbox 360's you will have to go and buy an Xbox wireless adapter.
If you go to settings, network settings, and select connect to xbox live via wireless then you will be prompted to input your security details for your Wireless and you should then be connected via wireless to xbox live.

To connect your Xbox 360 gaming console to a NETGEAR router's wireless network:
  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 and disconnect anything from the I/O port on the back of the console.
  2. Insert your Xbox 360 wireless adapter to the I/O port as instructed by the wireless adapter manual.
  3. Connect the wireless adapter cable to your Xbox 360 I/O port.
  4. Flip up the network adapter's antenna.
  5. Turn on your Xbox 360.
    • If you are using an unencrypted wireless network, your Xbox should connect to it automatically and you do not need to proceed to Step 6.
    • If you are using an encrypted wireless network click the System tab, and then click Network Settings and continue with Step 6.
  6. On the Network Settings page, select Edit Settings.
  7. On the Edit Settings page, select your wireless settings on the Basic Settings tab.
  8. On the Select Wireless Network page, select your wireless network.
  9. On the WEP Network page, type your wireless network key, and then click Done.
  10. On the Apply Settings page, click Test Xbox Live.
  11. If this is the first time you have connected your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, you will probably be prompted to apply an update. If there are no updates, the Xbox Live Connection page shows that you're connected to Xbox Live. Press the Y button on your controller to continue.

If testing the Xbox it says DNS failed, then update your NETGEAR router firmware:
  1. From your computer, open an Internet Browser and navigate to http://kb.netgear.com to download the firmware for your router.
  2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
  3. Click Router Upgrade on the top left pane under Maintenance, browse for the firmware downloaded and click Upload.
  4. Wait for the router to reboot.

Xbox 360 controller not working, all 4 lights are blinking.

The wired and wireless controllers can be actively connected to an Xbox 360 console all at one time. Each connected controller is assigned a quadrant on the Ring of Light. Before you can connect a wireless controller, at least one quadrant must be free and will be unlit.

Connecting an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to an Xbox 360 Console is called Connecting. To connect a controller to a console:
First, Press and hold down the Guide Button on the wireless controller until it turns on.
Second, Press and release the power button to turn the console on.
Third, Press and release the connect button on the console.
Fourth, Press and release the connect button on the controller.
Fifth, After the ring of light on the controller and console spin and flash once, the controller is connected. The quadrant that remains lit indicates the controller's position.

Four Green lights on the controller's Ring of Light flash continuously

The Please Reconnect Controller message appears on the monitor

There is interference and the controller does not respond properly

Step 1: Ensure that either the AA batteries are new or the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack has a full charge.

Step 2: Ensure that you have performed the proper procedure to connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to the console.

Step 3: If still experiencing issues, ensure there is a clear line of sight between the front of the console and the wireless controller. If there are any obstructions, especially metal objects, remove them.

Step 4: 2.4 gigahertz cordless telephones, microwave ovens, and Bluetooth headsets for cell phones can interfere with the operation of the wireless controller. Turn off or unplug those devices and then try to connect the wireless controller to the console again.

Step 5: If these steps did not resolve the issue, the wireless controller may need to be replaced.

Wireless controller position

Try this:

To reset the screen configuration for an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller:
  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console and any connected Xbox 360 wireless controllers.

(To turn off your wireless controller, power down the system and wait for the lights around the controller's Xbox Guide button to disappear.)
  2. Manually turn on your Xbox 360—don't use your controller's Xbox Guide button.
  3. Press the connect button on the front of your console. This is the small button just to the right of (or below, if your console is on its side) the port for Memory Unit B. The lights around the console's power button will flash as the console searches for a wireless controller.
  4. Press and hold the Xbox Guide button to turn on the wireless controller that you want to assign to slot one.
  5. Once the controller is on and the lights are still circling the power button on the console, press your controller's connect button, located just to the right of the charge port.

When the lights on your controller stop spinning, the wireless controller is configured to slot one and the upper-left quadrant light will glow.
  6. Select the controller you want in slot two and repeat steps 4 and 5. You can configure up to four wireless controllers.
