Tip

"Aero features are'nt running in window's 7"

Solution: Check that your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements for running Aero:

1-gigahertz (GHz) 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 gigabyte (GB) of random access memory (RAM)

128-megabyte (MB) graphics card

Aero also requires a DirectX 9 class graphics processor that supports a Windows Display Driver Model Driver, Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, and 32 bits per pixel.

For best results, you might also want to follow these graphics processor recommendations:

64 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor with a resolution that is less than 1,310,720 pixels (for example, a 17–inch flat panel LCD monitor that has a 1280 × 1024 resolution)

128 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor with a resolution from 1,310,720 to 2,304,000 pixels (for example, a 21.1–inch flat panel LCD monitor that has up to a 1600 × 1200 resolution)

256 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor with a resolution greater than 2,304,000 pixels (for example, a 30–inch wide-screen flat panel LCD monitor that has up to a 2560 × 1600 resolution)

To turn on window frame transparency, the color scheme must first be set to Windows Aero.

1.Open Personalization by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Personalization.

2.Click Window Color and Appearance.

3.Select the Enable transparency check box.

To change the color scheme to Windows Aero

1.Open Appearance Settings by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Window Color and Appearance. If the Appearance Settings dialog box is not displayed, at the bottom of the page, click Open classic appearance properties.

2.In the Color scheme list, click Windows Aero, and then click OK.

Check that your theme is an aero theme and not a normal theme. Themes are available in normal and aero and can be confusing. Set your theme as an aero theme and you should get the aero window working.

These steps will help us to have AERO running.

When I installed Windows XP service pack 2 the system resolution is not automatically updated. It is showing as 4 bit only.

Hello,

its showing 4-bit because you did not install the VGA drivers of your computer.

Go to the homepage of the manufacturer of your computer, go to the software & Download section, select your computer's model and a list of appropriate drivers for your computer will come up.

Amongst the list, you will see a VGA drivers there. Download it and and install it on your computer.

Once this is done, your resolution will increase to 16 bit, 24 bit, and 32 bit. This is very certain the moment the VGA is installed on your computer.

Thanks for using fixya....

It is possible that you do not have the correct drivers installed/available for the graphics card, try using the drivers i have found on the intel website, the link below

Pixels only goes to 640X480

When you cannot increase the screen resolution nor a higher color bit, this usually means the video driver has defaulted to standard VGA driver and 8 or 16 bit color.
Install or re-install the latest video driver for your model video card.
When the correct video driver is installed you will be able to change the screen resolution and 32 color bit.

HP DL380 G4 Video resolution

I'm afraid that the server video cards on these are pretty poor, the only way to improve this is to add a PCI video card (I added a cheap MX440 to a server I run to get around this). If your PCI slots are all filled up then I'm afraid there's really nothing you can do.

You could TRY to decrease the color bit depth, and see if that helps. Often the video drivers don't support detecting when a higher resolution is possible due to a lower bit depth, or the cards don't actually use less storage for them. (the problem is a lack of RAM on the card to hold a full screen full of pixels at a higher resolution.)

I know this sounds obvious but- I had the same problem, and turns out the cord want plugged in quite properly at the back of the monitor. This may not fix every problem, but, I suggest you check the cord pligged in at the back of the monitor is firmly in there and restart, then if you still get the problem, contact the company.
