The problem with your machine is the basting unit is seized, this unit is located on the needlebar asm. You can take it into a dealer to fix or if you would like to fix itself I too can help you with it. If you take it to a dealer that estimate price to fix it is around $100.00

My bernina 930 speed has basically came to zero. the wheel is turning but the needle is moving very slow and even stops moving even when the wheel is turning. what could be the problem?

Um, how long since the last clean and oil? Sounds like the machine has seized due to old dry oil preventing things from moving. Avoid using the machine until the problem is addressed or the motor may be damaged. (Do this and you will be surprised at how nicely your 930 will run!)

I am looking for a bernina 930 service manual. I dropped the feed dogs and they will not come back up.

Most likely they have seized due to lack of regular oiling. I have used the following method on several older seized Berninas with great success. Just be sure to NOT get any oil near the 930 basting stitch mechanism (about the middle of the needle bar) or it will most likely lock the machine.

This is a diagram for the Bernina 830 Record, but it will give you a good idea of what & where to look for oil ports.

Red light system will knot come on

Is it a Bernina 930 Record (a mechanical machine)? If so, have you cleaned and oiled your machine recently? Could be some of the moving parts have dried out and are sticking. Use only fresh good quality sewing machine oil and apply 1-2 drops of oil each spot (note--there are a lot of oil ports in the machine that will help keep your machine working). The problem you are experiencing probably emanates from the stitch selectors at the top of the machine, so be sure to oil and exercise those. Do NOT oil plastic parts, belts, cams, and stay away from the Bernina basting stitch at the middle of the needle bar.

You should apply a drop of oil at the shuttle/hook area every time you install a new bobbin, perform a thorough clean and oil every 40 hours of sewing or, if in storage, every six months.

Bernina 930 change needle position

Look at the knob which creates the zig-zag stitch (1-4) at the top right of your 930. In the center of that is a silver knob that rotates right and left. That silver switch moves the needle position right and left.

Can I sew a Blanket stitch with my Bernina 930 Record machine?

Once upon a time, a blanket stitch used to be a long wide zigzag stitch. If you are referring to an electronic stitch version that would look like the inverse of a blind-hem stitch, then no, this is not possible on the 930 record machine.
What is nowadays called a blanket stitch used for quilting applications requires the machine to stop feeding during the stitching cycle to allow for the single stitch to the left and then back again. An electronic step motor machine, common to all newer Bernina machines can do this and or similar functions. That being said, don't be thinking about getting rid of your 930. Better to get one of the newer units for occasional blanket stitching and keep the Swiss made 930. The Bernina 930 is a lifetime machine. Computers machines are not lifetime class machines by virtue of being computers. Electronics are short lived.

Needle wont move on my bernina 930

Could very well be the basting stitch mechanism. This is a very common issue on the Bernina 930 Records. The basting stitch should be run frequently (once a month). If it locks up, the machine has to be taken to a technician.

Zig Zag Stitch not working

THis problem occurred as I was sewing on Neoprene. I was using Gutterman all-purpose thread and a size 80 needle. Tried switching to a size 70, then to size 90. Still unable to zig zag. After inserting a test sample of cotton, the zig zag worked perfectly, so I knew it was not a mecahnical problem. I switched needles again. This time to size 90 for stretch fabric. Voila! Problem solved.

Needle won't move on Bernina 930

If the machines motor is running but the needle isn't going up and down then the baste stitch finger is gummed up and needs to be serviced.  This is a simple fix and it happens all the time on those machines.  Take it to your local Bernina dealer for a standard service.  Also if you really need it in a pinch try pushing up on the needle bar that sometimes will fix the problem but it will still need serviced.
