New chamberlain garage door opener won't recognize homelink car remotes

    Figured out the problem. There is a step when programming the HomeLink device, to place a working remote close to the HomeLink device and press the buttons simultaneously. If you skip this step, the subsequent steps won't work. I skipped the steps because the instructions implied that the purpose of the step was to see if you were using rolling codes or not. Since I knew it was rolling, I skipped it. Turns out it is necessary.

    Found the problem. There is an early step in the programming process to place a working remote near the HomeLink device and press the buttons on both devices at once. The instructions say that if it fails, it tells you that you are using a rolling code device. I skipped that step since I knew it was using rolling codes. Do not skip this step! It is required for the later steps.

You have to first have your cars Homelink system learn your current remote (follow owners manual) THEN have the garage door opener learn the cars Homelink (push openers learn button then press the Homelink button you previously had learn your remote. Two learning steps required because the LiftMaster is a 'rolling code system'

2010 BMW 528XI Garage Door Opener Homelink Setup

**** >>> This setup I performed with my new 2010 BMW 528XI Garage Door Homelink and Chamberlain Garage Door Opener <<< ****

Chamberlain:
01. Power off or unplug the garage door opener motor power supply (which is mounted on ceiling of the garage) ;;;

02. keep the garage door opener transmitter in your hand (do not press any button at this time) ;;;

03. In your 2010 BMW 528XI Homelink button (which resides under rear view mirror) press the 1st and 3rd homelink button together for about 30-40 seconds (i.e., until the yellow light blinks fast) and when the yellow light next to the homelink button blinks fast release from pressing the (homelink) buttons ;;;

04. now hold the garage door opener transmitter closer (means within 2-4 inches) to the homelink button (either 1st or 2nd or 3rd) whichever you are planning to program to open the garage door ;;;

05. now press the garage door opener transmitter button and chosen homelink button (either 1st or 2nd or 3rd whatever you need) together ;;;

06. the yellow light (next to homelink button) initially may blink slowly but after few seconds (may be 10-20 seconds) will blink fast; once it started blinking fast release from pressing both garage door opener transmitter and homelink button ;;;

07. Now plug or power on the main garage door opener motor (which is mounted on garage ceiling) ;;;

08. On the main garage door opener motor (which is mounted on garage ceiling) press the "LEARN" button (once you press it may have yellow/orange color light; make sure the light is on) ; then within 30 seconds do the next steps #9, #10, #11 very carefully ;;;

09. go to your car and press the homelink button you programmed and hold it for 4 seconds and then release it --> 1st iteration ;;;

10. again hold the same homelink button you programmed and hold it for 4 seconds and then release it --> 2nd iteration ;;;

11. again hold the same homelink button you programmed and hold it for 4 seconds and then release it --> 3rd iteration ** important note; generally three iterations are not necessary; and steps #9, #10, #11 must be performed within 30 seconds ** ;;;

12. during one of the iteration you will hear "CLICK" sound one-time from Garage door motor (which is mounted on ceiling) and if you have light attached with it; it will blink once (** if you hear the CLICK sound and/or light blinks once**) then the particular homelink button is programmed ;;;

13. now press the programmed homelink button; the garage door will open or close (but always it will take 3 or 4 blinks in yellow light or 2-3 seconds before the garage door opens or closes and which is normal) ;;;

** Thats it, your 2010 BMW 528XI Garage Door Opener Homelink setup is complete ** ;;;

You can program rest of the homelink button the same way but following from the steps between #4 and #13 ;;;

Hope this steps will help you to program chamberlain Garage door opener in 2010 BMW 528XI Homelink. ;;;

** possibly the above same steps may work with other BMW 5-series cars homelink too (but I'm not sure) **

Craftsman 1/2hp garage opener Homelink must be under unit to work

Have you tired reprogramming the remotes to the opener?

The opener receiver board may have failed, which happens. You can order a new one from Sears or other places on the Internet, and they are fairly easy to replace.

Once replaced, you will need to program the receiver to you remotes again.

My Dodge Durango won't sync with my Liftmaster

In 2005 there was a radio frequency change for garage door openers. If your homelink is new and the opener is old or vice versa they will not work together.

We have Craftsman 139.53684 gargage door opener with 2 remotes. Both remotes programmed and respond. Issue is after programming the 2 remotes, the homelink in the vehicles no longer respond. Can you not...

You must have an older vehicle or the homelink has reverted to an earlier technology and you will have exactly the situation you describe. You will just have to use the remotes that came with the opener.

Can i program homelink with out a remote

The only way to program Homelink without a garage door opener remote is if you have a keypad that allows access to your garage. I tried EVERYTHING and then realized I had the keypad which is wireless; I simply unscrewed the battery operated keypad from its location and held it 1"-3" from the Homelink buttons in my car. I then punched in my code and held the enter button on the keypad at the same time as the Homelink button I wished to program. It worked flawlessly. Good Luck!!!!

HomeLink works in vehicle... unable to program hand held or remot

When did your remote and keypad quit working? Was it when you programmed the Homelink? It sure sounds like you have a bad logic board.

Garage door opener transmitter/receiver compatibility

Press and hold the homelink button and wait till the red light flashes slowly,but don't release it. Now hold a working remote 3 inches away,press the remote button and hold it.When the red Homelink buttom fllashes quickly, release both buttons. Now go to the opener and push the learn button. Now go back to your car and press and hold the Homelink button. You will see the lights on your opener flash. Now your Homelink button should operate your garage door.
