Are you trying to set up the router. You can do it manually without the CD. Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem. If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first. If your computer is able to go online through the modem then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router. open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.
No solid power light = NO internet. Check and make sure router is plugged in. Try unplugging router for half a minute and plug it in again check and make sure the outlet works where you are plugging the router in and if still no power light you can contact Netgear support at 888-638-4327.
Your router might have been reset and now the settings on your devices does not match that of the router. If you have wireless security enabled on your router make sure your devices are set up to match those settings.
Change the calbe from the router to the dsl modem. Make sure you check labels on the rear of these devices to make sure the connections go where indicated. Is there and ethernet light on your modem. If that is on then the connection is made. Also check if the DSL modem works directly connected to the pc.
If you upgraded the software but still the connecitons is droping then contact the ISP (the internet service provider ), Because it is possible that they have something wrong thier side,,,THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN AS INTERMITTENT SYNC OR ROUTE,,, check the lights on your router , when the internet goes down which light changes,,,
and once you confirm that the problem is not with your ISP then you need to purchase a new router,
as long as you are not using your own router to connect to your neighbours, as this wont work only one router on the network can connect to the net
Im assuming your pc is trying to connect to the neighbours router, so you need to reset the router if you cant access it, it should have no password as default and the ip address of the router should be 192.168.2.1.
get into your network cards properties and ensure obtain an ip address automatically on the TCP/IP line is selected.
Go into the router settings and make sure enable DHCP is set to allocate ip addresses automatically and that the router transmits on mixed mode b and G, turn off any wep or wpa encryption until you have a connection.
Do not use windows connection repair as it will totaly mess up your pc's ip addresses and stop you from connecting to the routers ip address.
