Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Hello I have a Netgear DG834GT router, and it has just started to fail. When you plug in the power, all the lights flash once , then it just does nothing. Tried the Reset at rear, but it didn't work. Is there a fix for this, or is the only option to flash the firmware? Can the firmware be flashed if there are no power lights on?

Thanks for the help guys, but I've figured out that the router pcb is just dead/blown. After the initial single flash of all the lights, the only light that was left on, was the one that was getting power from the ethernet cable(from the pc). So effectively, the PCB is doing nothing.

Thanks for your help anyway guys.

    Cheers
    Stein

Does all the lights flash once and then all go off? Try fiddling around with the power cord into the back of the router to see if it is a loose connection with that. If your getting no power you wont be able to Firmware flash.

Sounds more like a power supply issue than the actual router...can you check the output of the power pack, with a voltmeter?

How do you istall software for a netgear wireless adapter n300 without source cd

Get a usb flash drive and go to the library or a computer hooked to the Internet, and download the installation software from the Netgear site. Then plug that usb flash drive into the computer and install the netgear wireless adapter.

Good luck on this.

Cant display netgear setup page

  1. Decide on a Netgear router. There are a number of router offerings, and prices and features differ depending on the model. Choose one that meets your needs and fits your price range.
  2. Step 2 Purchase a Netgear router, looking for the best price possible. Consumer electronics shopping sites like NewEgg and TigerDirect often offer good deals on clearance, open boxes or shipping (see Resources below).
  3. Step 3 Place the router by clearing a space on or under a desk. The router should be located centrally to reduce the distance to clients and assure better connections. The location will vary depending on how it will be used. For example, it shouldn't be placed in the corner of a basement if wireless clients all over the house will be using it.
  4. Step 4 Set up and plug in the Netgear router and wait a few seconds for it to boot up. Since the router is essentially a mini-computer, it won't work instantly when it's turned on. While it's booting, the power light should flash. When it's finished booting, the power light should stay solid.
  5. Step 5 Connect a computer to the router, either with a wireless or a wired connection. Reboot the computer to ensure it gets a new IP address from the router via Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
  6. Step 6 Open the web interface by entering "http://192.168.1.1/" into the address bar of your web browser. If a login screen is presented, use "admin" as the username and either "1234" or "password" as the password.
  7. Step 7 Connect to the Internet, if necessary. Plug your cable modem or DSL modem into the router's WAN port in the back and run the Internet Connectionmag-glass_10x10.gif Setup Wizard from the web interface.
  8. Step 8 Follow the directions and provide authentication information.
  9. Step 9 Connect more clients. At this point, clients should be able to connect and access the Internet.

GoodLuck ;-)

Antenner sign on my netgear not flashing carnt get my laptop or my other p.c to conect to internet?

Be sure the cable from the modem is plugged into the "WAN" port on your router.

Unplug the router, wait a minute, then plug it back in. If that doesn't resolve it, contact Netgear support for a possible replacement.

Hello,

In Ideal scenarios, you should just plug in the card in the notebook and it should get installed automatically.

Than you may scan for the available networks and you should be able to see the network of your Netgear router(Assuming that the Netgear you have mentioned is wireless capable and configured).

You can connect to the network and it should work fine.

Let me know what happens.
Regards,
Sammy
