Hi,

If you have a DVD drive on the computer, it will help you in copying the DVD, but for that you will have to use a software.

There are loads of software that you can get on the net for free, for which you can google and do a free download for any DVD burning software.

Please let me know if you need more information.

My dvd does not play in laptop due to digital copyright problem. what can i do to fix this? no dvd wil play

Copy-protected DVDs prohibit people from copying them, which is piracy. Copying a DVD to sell or even to give away is illegal. You can play copy-protected DVDs in a standalone DVD player or in your computer's DVD drive, as long as your computer's software is up to date. These DVDs will play the same as DVDs that are not copy protected

Press the "Eject" button on your DVD player to open the DVD tray. Set the DVD into the tray, and push the "Eject" button to close the tray. Press the "Play" button on your DVD player, and the DVD will play. b> On a DVD Drive on a Computer Press the "Eject" button on your DVD drive to eject the DVD tray. Set the DVD into the DVD drive, and push the tray in to close it. Click the "Start" tab on your computer's home screen to open the "Start" menu. Click on "My Computer" to open it. Click on the DVD drive to open the DVD. Click on "Autoplay" to play the DVD.

I purchased two LG 22X DVDRW and installed both of them. I have difficulty in copying a DVD to an external hard drive. On the target selector it only showed :D,:E two choices. But on the source it has :D...

You must have DVD copying/burning software. If you have windows XP or Vista you can't do it. I think with windows 7 you finally can. You need Nero, Roxio, or some similar program. You can only do CD's with the operating system, not DVDs.

External Hard Drive

If you plan to store movies on the HD, better buying a 1TB hard drive. WD Mybook is one of the best external HD.

To rip and store DVD movies into the hard disk you will need a specific software, like the ones below.

DVD Converter - convert DVD video to AVI/MPEG/DIVX files

Freeware converts DVD AVI MPEG WMV RM to MP3 or iPod Video

Copying to hdd problems

Its not easy to copy a DVD, unless you have the proper software. Even then there is a lot of trial and error that you have to go thru. My suggestion is to findout whats the recording software that are used by both of the recorders and try to get around them by means of a computer.
Or alternatevly do the recording via a computer.

Windows media player

Windows XP does not come with the proper software to play DVDs. All major brands of pcs come with a piece of software called a DVD decoder. Once the DVD decoder is installed windows media player can play DVDs again. This software will be on your application recovery disks from your manufacturer. If you do not have these disks you can purchase them from the company who built your PC or you can purchase a DVD decoder software such as the ones found here. If you don't want to purchase one you can try a different program such as the VLC Media player to play your DVDs. VLC is a free download.
