Blank screen on my Dell Inspiron 1545

I can get my dell inspiron 1545 laptop to come on, I can see the Dell logo, and then the message that windows is resuming, but then the screen goes blank--no desk top, nothing, just a blank screen.

And how does one do this when the screen stays blank? Sure, I've inserted the cd but still nothing shows on the screen. Thanks!

If your screen goes blank after startup, there could be a number of issues, but for the Intel Mobile 4 Series Express Chipset on the Inspiron 1545 specifically, if you are able to get your desktop to display again by bringing up the task manager, try this: select the igfxpers.exe utility and click End Process. Then try changing display resolutions and see if the video stays (rather than blanking out again). If that works, this utility (a graphics persistence utility provided as part of the graphics driver suite) is likely the culprit. Removing it from your machine (use search - it's in the Windows folders, and this will require administrator rights to the machine) will do the trick, though to be safe, you should back up the file first.

My Dell Inspiron 1545 will not load windows. The screen is lit but it is blank. I have taken out the battery and reinserted. What else should I do?

Is the screen black with the cursor blinking at the top left?
I have a suspicion that the coin sized battery is dead.Go to www.dell.com and get a service manual, replace the coin battery (Lithium battery). Put it all back together and it should work.
