My cd/dvd drive quit working - whatever media I put in doesn't show up on My Computer HELP!

This issue happens with every CD I insert - music, graphics, pictures, etc.

I do hear the computer trying to run the CD - whirring and clicking sounds.

The CD drive is shown under the device manager - it also has an exclamation point in a yellow circle (probably not a good sign)

When I clicked on the driver (_NEC DVD+RW ND-3530A) this message came up

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39)"

I ran the Windows Troubleshooting Wizard - Uninstalled and Reinstalled the driver - still didn't work - tried updating the driver and the help wizard said no updated drivers available

I ma forwarding information from the microsoft team on Error 39:

There are several causes of Code 39 errors:

    • A required device driver is missing.
    • A required binary file is corrupted.
    • There is a problem with the file I/O process.
    • A driver that is referencing an entry point in another binary file is unable to load.

    Recommended resolution

Reinstall the drivers for this device.

    Uninstall and reinstall the driver

Uninstall the driver from Device Manager, and then scan for new hardware to install the driver again.

You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s Web site.

    1. On the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. Follow the instructions.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Open Device Manager, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes. Follow the instructions.

have you tried the above steps.

Dvd reading error

Try using a known-good (for instance, a movie you just watched on your TV). If it doesn't read that disc, make certain you have seated the disk in the drive properly (Laptop drives have a *CLICK!* when you have seated the disc properly). If that doesn't work- if the laptop is in warranty, get it fixed. If not, use an external drive to fulfill your media needs

L305D-S5930 dvd wont burn documents to a dvd disc

You need a program, like nero.
if that doesn't work then put a DVD in the drive & see if the computer picks it up in the my computer.
the first thing that goes in a CD/DVD-RW drive is the DVD heads, thats if your drive is a CD/DVD-RW.
Have a look on the front of the drive tray, if it say CD-RW DVD ROM then it doesn't burn DVD's it only plays them.

I have an lg external super multi dvd rewriter (gp08lu10).. i tried burning a 4.7GB DVD-RW but it doesn't work.. the memory capacity shows 0 bytes but i inserted a 4.7GB DVD-RW (also it shows that...

CD/DVD drives will always show 0 bytes if there is no media present.
You will need extra software in order to burn DVD such as Roxio, Nero. I beleive the LG burners show come with software, you will need to install it in, and run it to burn DVDs.
Nero does offer a free version that will burn DVDs http://www.nero.com/ena/downloads-nero9-free.php

The DVD/CD drive on my Medion 8830 PC no longer burns

Have you changed or upgraded your OS recently?
Looks like the drivers are corrupt or out-dated.
Might go to your computer mfg support site or the Drive mfg support site and download the latest drivers.
Uninstall whatever drivers are loaded reboot and reinstall fresh copies.

Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem and needs to close.

If you delete the information in the Control Panel and restart your computer, it will look for the driver by itself.
