Question about Samsung BD-P1400 Blu-Ray Player

Open Question

My samsung blu-ray player is stuck in CD-UP for over 30 minutes with the tv screen on during a firmware update. It won't let me turn the power off either.

Update: after waiting for over an hour I bit the bullet, crossed my fingers and unplugged the blu-ray player. When I plugged it back in I got the menu to select the language which was what I expected to get if the player had in fact shut itself down as it should have. The player seems to be working great with the exception of the fact that I am now experiencing an issue with the new Avatar DVD where title/chapter popups are appearing on screen every few minutes. I have read online that there are several people experiencing the same issue however no one has a resolution as yet.

I had the same problem. You HAVE TO WAIT 5 minutes after you insert the firmware update disc and BEFORE you press enter on the YES or NO option for updating the firmware.

SOURCE: I still can't play my Avatar Blu-Ray disk, I've

Disable BD-Live. I have an LG so I don't know the Samsung's setup menu, but you can probably find BD-Live settings in the network section of the menu.
BD-Live is a "feature" that uses your player's internet connection to download new content (e.g. up-to-date movie trailers) every time you insert the disk. While this is pretty cool in theory, it causes problems when (a) you have an internet connection but (b) for some reason the disk isn't able to connect to the server it's looking for.
If you're using an ethernet cable you can essentially accomplish the same thing by disconnecting it from your player before you load the disk. Then the disk will not find an internet connection and won't try to perform the BD-Live functions, which should enable the film to load almost right away.
I disabled BD-Live and that has stopped all such issues (also a problem with Date Night for me). I don't want my moves phoning home every time I get something from Netflix. Maybe some day BD-Live will be cool but for now it's more trouble than it's worth, it seems.
I hope this helps you. Good luck.

I have the same problem, tried it on 2 different (functioning) blu-ray players at home with the same result. Both are up to date with latest firmware but will not play this disc. Finally had to just watch the standard-def DVD version until I can solve this.

Power comes on but only says it is loading. no picture

Hello

First unplug your player for about 30 minutes and then plug it back in.

you will probably need to update your firmware. You might try downloading the firmware from the website, burning it onto a disc and reloading the firmware update.

once you have upgraded the firmware, and confirm through the BR's menu screen that the latest firmware has been applied, start the player without a disc in "no-disc" mode. Press the FF button on your player (not remote) for about 10-20 secs. Then voila, it will work just as it should.

It won't play salt blu ray movie? why

Download and manually update the firmware to version 2.4 for the BD-P1400 from the Samsung site. Burn the image (ISO) to a CD or CD-RW. It will take 20 minutes to do the update. The internet update will not fix the problem. It fixed the problem for me.

READ the PDF file under Upgrade Guide. Make sure you designate the proper file type when burning CD. Check your burning software.

Hi,
Try to reset system at Samsung support. To do this you just take disc out, hold the FF button down on unit until you see "reset" then select language. Turn system off then hold power button for 15 sec. Then restart system. As far as Netflix you got to got to system, determine if you are using wireless or cable. You have to set this yourself.

You should also update your firmware here at http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/tv-video/blu-ray/blu-ray-players/BD-P1590/XAA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl=
You will see a support tab, which has your download on it. I would try the CD based download first.Download the file, unzip it, and burn it onto a CD. Then, with the unit off, and unplugged, plug it in, open the drawer and insert the disk. Close the drawer and see if it will read the new files. If not, then try the same procedure on the USB option.

Thank you!

My samsung BD-P2500 Bluray player is stuck at a load message

Hi.
First try disconnecting power cord for five minutes. On restart keep playing eject while the unit is starting up, to eject if there is a disk stuck inside.

Contact Samsung support number, listed on the owners manual. If a firmware update is available they will guide through the update.

If the firmware update does not fix the problem, then the BD player may have a defective or dirty lens.

Using lens cleaner can invalidate warranty, talk to Samsung first.

Gets stuck displayong BD-ROM and won't play

Your Blu-Ray player needs a firmware update from Sony. Here is a link to the page to download the firmware http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=BDPS300&upd_id=4704&os_id=27

You will need to download the firmware and burn the files to a cd-rom disc. First you double click on the downloaded file to extract the files to a folder. Then you will need to use the "burn image" setting in your cd burning software on your computer and burn those files to a cd-r disc. Then when you insert the disc into the Blu-Ray player it will start the update process. DO NOT DISTURB the player when the upgrade is happening and it usually takes about 30 minutes. Periodic upgrades will be needed with the player to be compatible with the new format of Blu-Ray discs. The full instructions are on the web page.

CD Firmware update

I would strongly recomend that you put the unit under the rear tires of a large truck and back over it, that should take care of the problem.
